A Date With Death

Edd couldn't speak. Not just because he had the cloth wrapped around his mouth, but because of the shocking truth in front of him.

Tom had betrayed them.

Edd hadn't known Tom for very long, but considered him to be a good friend. If this felt like a punch to the gut for Edd, he could only imagine how Matt felt.

After few seconds, the oldest prince asked the one question that was on everyone's mind:

"Why..?"

Tom just sighed. "Always with the questions Matt. Why can't you just shut up for two god forsaken minutes?" He snapped.

Matt looked like someone had just kicked a puppy. Edd couldn't stand to look at him. He wanted to run over and hug Matt so badly...

"Stop looking so pathetic." Tom rolled his eyes. "You really want to know why I'm doing this?" he questioned, stepping closer to Matt.

"Yes! We were brothers Tom! What happened to you..?" Matt asked sadly.

"You." Tom spat. "You happened to me. We were brothers... and then you abandoned me. I trusted you to go get help, to come back for me, but you left me. YOU LEFT ME TO DIE!" he yelled, before trying to compose himself. Edd could have sworn he saw tears in Tom's eyes.

Tord rushed over and grabbed Tom's shoulder, making sure he was alright. Tom muttered a quiet 'thank you' to him and wiped his eyes.

"I-I wanted to go back for you but-"

"SAVE IT!" Tom yelled, baring teeth. "I don't need you excuses. You left me, and now I get my revenge... and maybe the kingdom while I'm at it as a gift to the one person who was actually there for me."

Tom planted a long kiss on Tord's lips. Edd stiffened, wishing that was him and Matt instead.

"That's right!" Tord smirked, proud of himself. "I was a proud member slash leader of the red army. We were investigating the scene of a fire we started, when I come across Tom. He's hurt real bad and has his leg trapped under one of the rafters that fell when the building collapsed. Everyone wanted to kill him, but I saw something else in Tom so I took a risk and kept him alive. And now I'm getting my own kingdom!"

"You're doing all this... because you though I abandoned you? I wanted to go back for you so badly." Matt said quietly, looking at Tom.

Tom growled. "Stop lying-"

"No!" Matt yelled. "They had to drag me away from there. I didn't come out of my room for days after!"

Tom looked like he was about to yelled back at him, but took a deep breath instead. He grinned evilly, scaring Edd slightly.

"I don't care if what your saying is true anymore. This kingdom is ours to rule together." Tom replied calmly, taking Tord's hand. "There's only a few things left to take care of."

Tord laughed. "This is my favorite part!"

Tom snapped and two soldiers brought someone out of the shadows.

"DAD!" Matt cried as Edd's eyes widened.

The king's clothes were ripped and tattered. He slowly lifted his head.
