"Come on, Y/N! It'll be fun!" Hermione exclaimed, dragging you along the streets of London.
"I'm not so sure about this. Why can't we just go to Diagon Alley?" You looked at the mysterious location which muggles were entering. Feeling a bit out of place, you tried to walk away but Hermione was having none of it.
"Oh no, you don't." She tugged at your sleeve and brought you toward the entrance. "Trust me Y/N, while it may be a muggles thing, carnivals are great!"
You let out a grumble while Hermione paid the Ticketmaster. She pulled you along, and truth be told the carnival look amazing. Lights illuminated from the rides, and the laughter of children and adults could be heard throughout every direction. Hermione's eyes light up with excitement causing you to smile. Although you weren't interested in the muggle attractions, it made Hermione happy and that was all that mattered.
"So 'Mione, where are we headed first?"
She turned her attention toward you and wore a puzzled expression. "Well, I'm not really sure. There are many things to do here, but it all just depends really. We could get something to eat, or get on some rides, or perhaps play some games. I mean those games are usually rigged but-"
"Hermione," You interrupted. "I have no clue what most of those things are. Plus, you're the one who brought me here, so it's your duty to show me you muggle culture."
She smiled softly and kissed your cheek."Even though I had to practically drag you down here, I'm glad you're here."
"Anything for you, 'Mione."
"Now let's get on that one." She pointed up toward a gigantic roller coaster.
You may have ridden a broomstick before, but that muggle contraction scared the crap out of you. You gulped knowing that this was going to be a long day.
After many rides (and many terrified screams from you), the two of you finally went to get a meal. The muggles had many strange food items compared to the wizard community.
"Hermione," you started. "What is a deep fried Oreo? What is an oreo? How are they deep fried?"
You started to bombard Hermione with many questions about just one food item until she put her finger on your lips to silence you.
"How about we just get a burger, okay?" she questioned. Hermione wasn't going to waste the entire day explaining food items.
You simply nodded and watched curiously as she spoke to the cashier of a stand. Strange muggles, you thought. With all their food that doesn't make any sense. Why can't they just have something simple like a butterbeer?
Soon after finishing the so called burger, you and Hermione walked hand in hand around the carnival grounds. Many different kinds of stands surrounded the both of you, desperately trying to sell you their items. Few of them would shout strange things such as "A winner every time!" or "One in wins!". Hermione would try to pull you away from the stands before you could get yourself into trouble. But it only lasted so long...
"Hey, you! The one in the leather jacket! Come on and play!" yelled a man standing in front of a stand.
Leather jacket, you pondered. Is he talking to me? The leather jacket you were wearing was a gift from Hermione, but perhaps he was talking to someone else.
"Leather jacket. H/C hair. Come over here and play!"
Yep, he's definitely talking about me. You turned around to face him, but Hermione tugged at your sleeve in the opposite direction of the man.
"Y/N don't," she whispered. "The games are rigged. You'll only waste your money."
"Ha, no muggle will get the best of me 'Mione." You confidently strolled over to the man, ready to beat his game.
"Alright kid," the man said. "It's only a few euros. Rules are pretty simple. Ya, see those milk bottles over there?" He gestured behind where 3 milk bottles were stacked on top of each other. "All you have to do is knock them down with this baseball. You've got three tries."
Seems simple enough. Wait, what is a euro?
"''Mione, pay the man for me please."
She huffed. "Fine, but don't say I didn't warn you." She handed the man the strange muggle currency while he handed you a ball.
Slowly, you pulled your arm back, ready to launch the ball, not taking your E/C eyes off the bottles. With all your strength, you released the ball toward the bottles, and with a solid bang...
"Ah, what a miss! Try again." The man handled you another ball, and look back at the milk bottles with an amused expression. Almost like he had expected it to happen.
Repeating your previous actions, the baseball hurtled through the air again, hitting the milk bottles directly, and with a proud grin, you looked back at the man.
"Come on! At least hit the target!"
Confused, you looked back to see the milk bottles still standing, as if they hadn't been touched.
"What? But I hit it! I swear!" You glared at the man.
Hermione shook her head. "Just try one last time."
You grumbled lowly and retrieve the ball from the man. Aiming at the bottles, you didn't notice that Hermione was mumbling under her breath with an object in her hand. As the ball hurdled toward the bottles again, you and the man both jumped at the sound of bottles hitting the floor. Hermione quickly stuffed her wand into her coat while you looked back toward the man, grinning ear to ear.
The man's face was pale, and his jaw was practically on the floor. "But I...the bottles...how..."
"Well," you said. "I believe I won. Now, what do I get?"
The man cleared his throat, though his eyes never left the stand, where the milk bottles once were. "Since you won, you can pick any prize from the wall."
Looking at the wall, your eyes stared at the gigantic stuffed animals. Out of all the prizes there, only one stuffed animal caught your eye. It was a massive otter, which just so happened to be Hermione's Patronus.
You pointed up toward the otter. "That one."
The man's gaze from the bottles finally broke, and he turned over toward the otter, pulled it down, and handed it to you.
You and Hermione decided to take a break and just spend the rest of the evening on the Ferris Wheel. Hermione was seated on your right side, snuggling the otter-like her life depended on it.
"I wish you showed me that much attention." You mumbled.
Hermione, still snuggling the otter, placed her lips on your cheek and to rest her head on your shoulder. "The otter's cute, but you're cuter." She glanced around the carnival once your cart stopped at the top of the Ferris Wheel. "You still wish we had gone to Diagon Alley?"
You scoffed. "Perhaps the muggle world isn't that bad. I'm just glad I got to spend time with you." Smiling softly, you captured Hermione's soft lips with yours.
Your moment was ruined by the Ferris Wheel roughly moving forward to lower your cart.
"Never mind. Take back what I said about the muggles world. Wizards are better."
