Change in life

The squirrel

As i stood at the bottom of the hill waiting for what seemed like 2 hours which as i looked at the time had been 5 minutes, i saw that there was a squirrel staring at me. "Hello." I said to it and it stood there 2 meters away from me with a blank face. The squirrel then started to slowly run towards me and it stood literally 1 foot away from me slightly twisting its head like a confused dog when looking at its reflection in a mirror for the second time. I quickly took out my phone and took a picture, i would probably remember this forever. It was such a strange yet somewhat magical thing that happened.
"Emily!" Shrieked maya, "oh my, i cant believe we are going to school today i just started to enjoy myself but at the same time i got to see you again!"
"Yeah thats true." Said sam, "we haven't seen you in like 2 months! Who knew it was even possible to be away from your best friend for so long?"
"I know i missed you guys so much!" I replied while giving them both a hug.
"So how was Miami?"
Maya jumped in excitement to tell me everything as we started to walk to school.

It was now lunch time and we had just finished eating our lunch when a girl from my class called Rebecca came over, "hey emily? Have you seen any of the posters around the school?"
"What posters?"i replied with a really confused expression as to why i was being told about them.
"Well... They're  about a talent show..."
"And? Get to the point." i said to her while laughing.
"Well I've heard you sing and you are amazing and i think you could win."
I started to think about when she heard me singing... Ohhh it was at her sleepover, we all took turns in singing lines for "a thousand miles".
"Ill think about it." I said as she walked away ,smiling away like a proud mother.
Although i probably could have a shot at winning, what would i get out of it? Just a few more people at school and their parents would know i could sing and I'm not sure if i even want that...
"Hey em, whats up? You've literally been sitting there daydreaming or something for like 5 minutes."said maya as she nudged me with her elbow.
"Dunno, just been thinking about stuff." I replied not sure if i should go into detail.
"Like what?"
"Squirrels?" I could see her starting to look confused but amused at the same time.
"Squirrels? Why out of all things that?"
"I saw one today, it came right up to me and i cant help feeling that it wanted to tell me something or that the fact that it did that meant something." ...
