yuuri stared up at the man above him with confusion lingering over his body, his heart beating a mile a minute as he tried to process that he hadn't died.

"u-u-uh, u-um-" yuuri stuttered, afraid to say anything to the man yet wanting an explanation.

the man just stares, feeling a certain pull towards the smaller boy yet not knowing why. for some reason.. he just simply could not tear his eyes away from the boy's face.

"why did you jump?" he asks, his eyes hooded with worry as he stared down at the skinny boy.

"i-uh, w-well uh-"

the man just raises an eyebrow, then realizing he may of indeed scared the boy. it wasn't his intention, but he probably had.

"look," he sighed, putting a hand on yuuri's back to get him to sit upright. "i didn't mean to scare you, really, i didn't, but i was not just going to watch you jump off of a bridge, then not resurface for over 10 seconds and simply walk away. i'm not that cold hearted."

yuuri's eyes widened.

for the first time in the boy's life
he was told
someone cared
about what happened to him.

even if he barely knew the man..
it still made his heart clench, his eyes want to fill with tears and his hands lightly shake.

"i wasn't planning o-on coming back up." yuuri whispers, trying to keep his eyes down at the ground as he played with the grass tickling his fingers.

"but you'd die." he responded, his eyes showing his confusion.

"th-that was the plan." he said as a lump formed in his throat.

but as always
he tried to simply ignore it,
and push away the deep, depressing thoughts.

"w-what's your name anyway?" yuuri questioned, his curiosity taking over his nervousness as he stared at the ground, his cheeks a bright crimson and his voice a low, shy whisper.

"i'm viktor." he responded, a shy smile tugging at his lips. "and who are you?"

the boy with the cold, dark gaze and the ebony hair paused for a minute, contemplating whether to answer.

he then hesitated,
his face stoic and his eyes sad,
before simply replying with

"i'm nobody."
