Dear Niall,

May 29

It's been hell without you. I'm so lonely. I can only hope that this eternity apart will make us closer than ever.

I think I'm losing my mind, Nialler. Good thing I haven't lost you. I love you so much. I know I say this all the time but really, you really are my best friend.

Today at the library a boy named Louis knocked all my books out of my hand by accident. He apologized and asked me if I wanted to come with him to get a coffee. I said yes, although I was pretty hesitant. You know how I am about making friends.

Louis was actually really friendly. We got coffee and talked for a really long time.

"What sorts of things do you like, Elle?" He asked before taking a sip of his coffee.

"Reading, writing, naps. I like to be with my best friend." I answered.

"Really? That's cool." He replied.

"What do you like?" I asked him.

"Coffee, music, you. Preferably all three at the same time." He responded.

For some reason this made my heart flutter. No boy has ever liked me before, you know that. I tend to blend in, I suppose. But Louis noticed me, Niall. He noticed me, and he actually liked me.

I think I like him, too. He seems really nice, and he's so funny (although not as funny as you).

I can't wait for you to get back.

Love,

Elle

Dear Elle,

May 29

These last few days have been miserable. I miss you so, so, so much. I'm going insane. I hope something good comes out of all this.

Remember the girl from the plane I told you about? It turns out she lives just down the road from me. I've barely spoken to her, although I can honestly tell you that I don't like her. She throws too many parties, way too many. She even invited me to come to one when she saw me going for a walk this morning. I told her no thanks. She tried to flirt with me, although I told her I wasn't interested.

There's this music store in town. I visited it today. It was so weird. I mean, I totally understand selling instruments, but CDs? No one buys CDs. I went anyway. I like the atmosphere, you know? There was this guy there, Harry. He was a pretty funny guy, you would've found him hilarious. He worked there, I think. He kept calling his boss' cell phone and then screaming into the phone to stop calling him. Just as I predicted, his boss came out of his office eventually, and his face was crimson with frustration. He gave Harry a lecture, and at the end of the lecture, all Harry had to say was "Your nose looks like a grapefruit."

I laughed, but I don't really know why. It wasn't all that funny, to be honest, and I think that's why it was so funny. I don't know.

I can't wait to come home.

Love,

Niall
