"Thanks for helping out, babygirl." Ashley hugged her friend close, "You know how much of a wreck I can be when wedding preparations are involved."
"No worries Ashley, it's not every day you have your wedding photo shoot." Nadine took a seat beside Ashley, "I'm more than glad that I am able to be of help."
Technically, Nadine wasn't needed for the wedding photo shoot today but Ashley said she needed another female presence and assurance and moral support and that meant she didn't have much choice.
So here she was, along with the bride and groom and feeling like an odd sidekick.
"James was supposed to be here as best man too, since he needed to try on suits because the previous one was for Jude." Ashley continued, pouring herself a drink. "You do know, do you? I mean, that James is best man now?"
"Just, after you told me." Nadine smiled, mildly surprised by the turn of events.
"Jude broke his arm in a gym accident, so yup. James' next."
"Oh."
Ashley put her glass of water down, "You're fine with it right? I mean if it affects you I can suggest for Tom to change."
"Ash, I'm fine! Really! You don't have to bother about us, we're past that stage already."
"Sure?" Ashley tried again.
"Very sure."
"That's good." The bride to be sighed in relief, "Anyway, like I said, James was supposed to be here but he's sick. Apparently he was caught in the rain. Poor boy."
"He's sick?" Nadine tried to ask as nonchalantly as possible.
"Yup, gave Tommy a call this morning. Tommy said he sounded really bad, was croaking and coughing through the short conversation." Ashley played with the hem of her mini dress for the next shoot, "It's so easy to fall sick with the unpredictable weather these days."
"Yeah." Nadine's mind immediately went back to Sammy's birthday a week ago, did he catch a cold from there?
"Why hello there, handsome man..." Ashley squealed when Tom came out of the dressing room after changing into a new set of clothes for their next concept.
Nadine's thought was cut off abruptly at Ashley's catcall to her fiancé and she can't help but smile at how sweet they are even after seven years of being together. She had absolute faith for their life together even after marriage.
The rest of the morning went past smoothly; Nadine had lots of fun seeing Ashley and Tom interacting throughout the shoot. Even the way they tried to conceptualize the idea for the shoots were highly amusing.
They were two people in perfect tandem. This is how everyone in love should be, right?
She took her leave shortly after lunch. Her mind had other things planned for the day.
"Do you need me to get a cab for you? Or I'll wait for one with you?" Ashley suggested as she walked Nadine out of the studio.
"Ash, go back. I can do it myself." Nadine assured her, "Besides, I'm not sure if any cabs will want to take a wandering bride in her gown by a random road."
"Hoy!"
"Go back inside before you dirty your gown." She pushed Ashley back to the direction that they had come from.
