I had been tossing and turning all night, I couldn't keep my mind off what had happened today, what seemed like the best birthday ever, became the worst, but then... maybe after all It wasn't the worst? What Archie had said in the letter was really playing in my mind, and even though it was about 3 O'clock in the night, I still couldn't sleep. I'm usually out like a log at 11 o'clock, so I knew something was wrong.
The Mansion was silent, only the faint buzzing sound could be heard, I came to a conclusion that bust be the electricity flowing through the mansion, although I'm not sure. Night time in Lakeside Mansion is always the creepiest. The walls and floors are decorated as if it's a house, and It feel's like a house, until night time, when you swear you can here things in the night, though it's probably just your imagination.
I turned on my side, my eyes closed. I waited for about five minutes, then I threw my Blanket off myself, in frustration.
"That's the damn last straw!" I yelled to myself. I began thumping at my head. "Why won't you bloody go to sleep!" I screamed as I bolted up right. I felt tears pricking in my eyes. I stopped punching my head, then I slowly whispered, "What the hell is wrong with me? Is this love, or am I going mental?" I sat still in my bed, staring at the wall breathing heavily. I felt sweat forming on my forehead, what the hell was going on?
Before I could stop myself, for some weird reason, I yanked the covers of the bed on the floor, and faster then I've ever moved before, I got of the bed, and marched down the corridor to Archie's room. I wouldn't say I'm the politest, but I'm not the kind of girl who storms into someones bedroom, uninvited, But I did. I threw his bedroom door open and stomped in full of frustration. Archie was lurking on his bed texting on his phone.
"WHAT THE HELL HAVE YOU DONE TO ME?!" I screamed, pointing my finger at him, blinking tightly to prevent tears from escaping, though it probably wouldn't have mattered anyway, I probably looked terrible, my face red with rage and frustration, sweat sticking to my forehead. He briefly looked at me, then his phone. He quickly tapped it then got of his bed and came over to me.
"What have I done to you?" He said starring at me coldly.
"Yes, you! I can't sleep because of you, It's like I'm going mental!" I screamed at him, crossing my arms. He snorted, and burst out in laughter, crossly I slipped my hands on my hips.
"What? What?" I demanded, my eyebrows lowered.
"Looks like.." He laughed "Looks like you're love sick!" He collapsed on his bed in heaps of laughter. I thought for a minute, I looked at the ground in embarrassment, A few tears dripped down my cheeks, I stood still, cringing. I felt my legs beginning to give way.
"Jade?" He stopped laughing. "Jeez, I didn't think you'ld react that way... I''m... I'm so sorry." He walked up to me, I kept my head low, staring at the ground. He tucked a strand of my hair behind my ear, so he could see my face.
"Jade?" He asked again, quietly. Slowly I raised my head, my eyes met his, I felt the same feeling I had when he first locked my eyes. His face softened as he saw my tear stained face, He wiped the tears away with his finger.
"You're beautiful, why do you cry? I hate to see you cry." He whispered, My heart melted as each word came out. I frowned.
"B-B- Because I love you..." I stuttered, Still gazing into his eyes.
"That's good," He lowered his voice, "Because, I love you too." He smiled, His arms slipped under mine, and wrapped around my waist. He pulled me in, until our bodies were pressed against each others. His head lowered and once again, His lips touched mine, and our eyes closed, before I knew it we were kissing.
When we finally pulled apart from continuously kissing, I glanced over at the clock, it read ' 4:15 am' I felt my heart, which seamed to be dead, started up again.
"Archie, Its quarter past four in the morning, I should really get back to bed," I said smiling, as his face hovered above mine. He put his finger over my lips.
"Hey, I thought you couldn't sleep?" He asked grinning more then ever.
"I can't, But I should really try..." I said after I had gently removed his finger.
"Hmm, really, or you could stay awake for as long as possible with me?" He asked as He flipped his cover open and patted it.
"Okay, deal." I said I danced over to his bed, and slipped into it. He slipped in next to me. We began to chat, for what seemed like ages. eventually I felt my eyes start to close.
"Archie?" I asked sleepily, I looked over at his back, which was curled up in the bed.
"Hmm?" He said very quietly, I stayed silent for a minute, as I plucked up the courage to ask.
"What was that thing that I'm supposed to find out about?" I asked into the silent darkness. He was silent. I waited patiently, but I had no reply. I leaned over and squinted. He was asleep.
I kissed him faintly on the head, and Got out of his bed, I decided to go back to my own, I waved at him from the doorway, which was stupid, considering he was asleep. Then I tiptoed back to my room, I Slipped into the bed, and tossed side ways, I was so tired I fell asleep almost instantly, Thinking about Archie, and What that secret thing he was hiding from me was, and what I was going to do when I go back to school on Monday, if Colette isn't the friend I thought she was, and for that matter if I did go back to school on Monday, at the rate of this weather, we'll probably have an extra long Christmas break! But most importantly of all, I dreamed about, Lakeside Mansion, and what it had brought into my life.
