It's like a wave of power
Something that takes away your energy
And rains like a shower.
It can kill you slowly,
And it can heal old wounds.
While it's wonderful and beautiful,
It can quickly turn into the blues.
Someone says those three words,
And it seems like they're the plain truth,
Then three months later they seem like a curse.
On your first date in a restaurant booth
He leans in for the first kiss.
It's a night to remember,
And one you begin to miss,
On those cold nights in December.
Then someone new comes into your life,
And picks up the pieces
Of your heart torn by the other guy.
Your heart gets all misty,
And you figure out ten years later,
That all those troubles,
All that heartbreak,
All the worthless tumbles,
They weren't so worthless,
They led you to him,
And they led you to the wonderful bliss,
And away from the rim,
Between what you waited for,
And giving in.
And knowing that for what it is worth,
Waiting was worth it.
