Jamie
Beautiful Kollam. The city itself is all governed by Ajay. Although the British are always a threat to him he does well. He has one of the largest covens in the world. As expected when the entire city is comprised of vampires. The city also is expanding. More vampires from the Southern and Northern parts of India are coming to Kollam. They are all welcome and they must all do their part. Since Ajay took control the city has become self sufficient. It is like it's own country. They all farm, fish, trade, and they build their own ships. These ships brought us to Australia during The Hunter Wars. When looking out from the ship I can see the busy port. Unlike port cities in England, Kollam is clean and does not have that aura of smog floating about. As my ship docks I can see Mr. Finn waiting on me. When the ship stops I take my medical bags and go down to meet my old friend. Without hesitation he takes me into his arms.
"Forgive me Miss Danforth, but it has been too long!" I return his hug.
"I agree my dear friend. It is unfortunate that I am here on business. If not then perhaps you and I would have more time together." He laughs then takes some of my bags.
"There must be sometime when you and I might enjoy time perhaps tonight?"
"What happens on this night?"
"A play to welcome our princess to Kollam. Then after a feast." I smirk as we walk from the dock.
"Sounds well enough. I will accompany you then." She beams then we walk into the town. As we walk the guards come around us. Mr. Finn goes on to tell me about the town. Then he points back to a ship and I cannot help the tears that fall. The original Sea Stallion was sent down below to The Locker many years ago. Ajay has made a replica of that dear ship. I do wonder if she sails the same. As we walk further into town I can smell some humans. Servants no doubt and I would expect nothing less. Still I am somewhat disappointed. My blood substitute is available to all vampires around the world. I believe it is a better alternative than actual human blood. Then again I do not expect all vampire to just follow my lead no matter if it is for the better or not. I am not the one they are willing to follow without question. That is Saryia. She is the real reason I am here.
I told Ajay that I was here researching medicine. I did not specify that it was for Saryia. Her mind has been altered because of Elaine. I must find a way to reverse it. I hope while I am away that she will not do any harm to the servant girls. She has grown more violent to them. Then there is sometimes when all she wanted was me. She was gentle and kind to everyone in our home. The change is sudden sometimes. At other times all I must say is her name. I hope to find a cure that will stitch her torn mind together again.
"So how are things in England Jamie?"
"Boring. I rather be traveling the world. So I am glad to be here. What of you Ajay?"
"Well, as Saryia ordered I continue to build her navy. Indeed it is greater than England. Shame they are at war with the American colonies." I nod. Ajay begins to laugh.
"You never were one for small talk. Is that not what always happens in England?" I chuckle.
"It is. I am also not one for war." He laughs as we continue to his home. There are many different people here in this city. It is filled with sailors, traders, craftsmen, and a few doctors. I will have to compare notes with some of them that study botanical medicine. It seems that my fame has spread as well. I am one of the only herbal doctors around. With new medicines coming up the old way of medicine is being forsaken. This planet is the only doctor we need. It only takes someone with the right touch to find those cures.
We arrive at Mr. Finn's home. As expected it is grand. I smell more humans here than anywhere else in town. We enter the gates to be met with humans and vampires alike. The vampires bow while the humans get on their knees and bow to me. I truly will not ever adjust to this. We pass them and enter the home. It is an open concept with beautiful art and a fountain in the middle. A servant comes and offers us some water. I take the glass as Ajay shows me around. I am very proud of my friend. He has done well for himself. He has made himself into the man he always wanted to be. We go up some steps and then I am shown my room. It is very large and open. There is a bath in the next room and a balcony overlooking the city and the port. I did miss the smell of the sea.
"I will give you time to settle." I thank him as he leaves the room. Servants come in and begin to unpack my bags. Personally I see to my medical supply. I ask the servants if it isn't too much trouble to bring me pots for growing plants. I do intend to stay here in Kollam for sometime. It is not ideal due to Saryia's condition, but I might be here for a few years. I have already been away for almost if not more than a year. It is important however. There is no length I will not go for my friend. If my journey for her cure takes me further into Asia then that is where I will go. I know that Elder Yang would not mind my staying with her. If not then I could always stay with Red. I know she will have me, she has already. Oddly she does not stay with Xi Yang. She told me she has her own palace. Selfishly enough I am glad that she does. I can be alone with her. . . What is it that I like so much about her? She is an interesting woman. Everything feels so new yet oddly familiar with her. She does have qualities of Mer-- Mercy...
"My Lady are you well?" A servant asks as the tears begin to fall. I wipe them away quickly then nod.
"I am my dear. Thank you for your concern." I go out to the balcony and sit in the chair. As I sit more tears begin to fall. I thought I was done with this. I thought I was over her. Why does that phantom still have hold of my heart? I wipe away my tears again then see a bottle of Wine sitting in ice with an empty glass next to it. I have not had a drop of liquor in years. I could not due to the war and Lady Elaine. Now... Now it is a new time. Still I am here on a mission not vacation. It would not hurt to have a glass. I open the bottle and pour myself a glass.
"It would seem you began the fun without me." I turn and see Ajay. He has a glass in hand and he sits in the chair next to me. He pours himself a glass then settles into the chair. I say nothing just look out at the port.
"Are you well? The servant girl told me you started to cry. Missing Miss Hawthorne?" I sigh then drink some wine.
"I am missing many people Mr. Finn." We say nothing for sometime then he puts his hand on my leg. I look over at him, I remember that face well and I welcome it. Ajay was always one for good advice I am in need of some.
"You came here seeking medicine for other people. Like the good woman you are you are always looking for cures for other people's needs. Perhaps while you are here you might find a cure for your own illnesses. Jamie, a good doctor always keeps her patients healthy, but out of all she keeps herself the healthiest." I nod.
"Thank you Ajay." He pats my leg then rest himself in the chair again. As always he is right. I have been taking care of everyone else and neglecting myself. I know that when I return to England it will be its usual political battles and unstableness. I was playing a role in that unstableness. Saryia is unstable and I cannot be her foundation when my own is crumbling. I have been dismissing my own problems so I can find solutions to other people's problems. I know now this trip will be about many different types of medicine. I must find them all for my sake and for the sake of others.
