Jamie
The sweet taste of the rum brings little pleasure to me. I fear for Mercy. She looks very beautiful, yet she looks as if she were dead. Saryia always tells me that she will survive. I do trust my sister, but I still do have fears for my wife. I shall not loose her. I cannot afford to loose her. I take another gulp of the bottle. Interesting, I hath drunken two bottles of rum in the past two hours and I do not feel drunk. Vampires indeed are interesting creatures. It must be something to do with the way or body is made.
I hath always been interested in the body. Tis one of the reasons why I became the doctor's hand. He was reluctant to the thought of a woman being a doctor, but he did allow me to do so. Under his watching eyes I learned everything about the human body. I still wonder if there is more? What more can I learn about the body? I wish to learn more about the human body. I want to know more about my new body. I also want to know more about the other non human bodies. What are the similarities and what are our differences. Such knowledge can help me to help others. Saryia has talked to me about covens. I imagine they might need a doctor. I hath heard that werewolves and vampires do not get along. I cannot give an opinion to this since I hath not met a wolf.
"How is she fairing?" Blume comes in the door with some rabbits. She must have good senses to find some around now. I stare down at Mercy and put my hand on her cheek.
"She is cold." Saryia hands me a rabbit with a grin.
"Warm her then. Tis the duty of a wife to warm her woman. I certainly will not do it." My face turns pink as I look over at Saryia. She sits in the chair and drains the rabbit. I feed as well and look back at Mercy. Saryia looks at Mercy for a few minutes then nods.
"She is well, but like I said you might want to keep her warm." She smiles and takes the book and reads in the corner. I knew what she meant by warm, but would Mercy even feel me?
"Jamie." Saryia says to get my attention, "She is fighting death now. It says here that sometimes the ones that are being turned need the warmth of their lover to coax them back to life. It has been three weeks, she should be a bit more warm than she be. Go on." With a sigh I take off my clothing and mount my sleeping wife. I lean down and kiss her. Her lips do not respond to me, but I do feel her warmth returning. I pick up her heartbeat. It hath been slowly fading since she took her slumber. I continue to kiss down her neck. I can see that had some effect for her hand twitched.
"Mercy." I whisper into her ear, "You will come back to me will you not?" I look upon her face. It looks like she is loosing color.
"Himmel, move!" Blume comes over just as Mercy starts to convulse.
"What's happening?!" Saryia holds her down as she bites into Mercy's neck. How can she drain when there is barely any blood with Mercy already? After a while Mercy becomes calm again. Saryia bites into her wrist then opens Mercy's mouth.
"Blume, what is the matter?"
"Her heart was accelerating, if I let that happen she would hath died. I gave her some venom and now giving her more blood. This is strange, it should not do this for a human. Perhaps this is happening because she were a witch." I put my dress back on and sit next to the bed as Saryia moves away.
"We will have to watch her carefully. I must be here, and you will hath to go hunting."
"Aye, good plan sister. She will awaken right?" She smiles and nods.
"Now she will. It is certain now." I sigh and drink down the rest of the bottle of rum. Before I could grab the other Blume stops me.
"Drunkenness will not help her return. Patience my dear Jamie, she will be back soon."
"How soon is soon?"
"A week, perhaps two." I nod as I stroke her face. Then something comes to mind as I look over at Saryia.
"What is this venom you spoke of earlier?" She puts the book down and looks at me.
"Vampires by nature are predators. Like serpents we have venom. It all depends on our strength what venom we will have. Our saliva has healing power, that is basic however. Venoms like the one I did come with power. That one I used on Mercy is some sort of a calming venom. The prey will not move so much, and I suspect they do not feel much pain when we feed. You will have to learn that one." I sigh and get in the bed with Mercy.
"What will happen when she wakes?"
"Uncontrollable bloodlust, no memory of us, and she will be violent. When she starts to wake we will have to strap her down until she remembers us. Once she remembers us then we can feed her." I sigh as I stoke my wife's face.
"Must it be human blood?" Blume shrugs.
"If I can find anything else then I will let her have it. For now I will hath to bring a human here."
"What?! That be impossible! How would you bring one here?" She gets up and puts on her cloak.
"I will go hunting. This be pass my better judgement but I must do this. I will hath to keep this human alive for the moment. We will have to leave soon as she is able. They are getting very suspicious of all thee killings and disappearances."
"What do they say?" As she thinks I see something off within her eyes. It feels to me as if some sort of monster inside of her is being awakened. To prove my suspicion a grin crosses her face that chills every bone in my body.
"They say it be a bear or some sort of wild cat. Nay, they think it be a demon. They say a lot of things. They fear me. I do enjoy it." I get up and come over to her.
"Are you well sister? There be a...change in your eyes." She looks at me for a moment then her eyes return to those loving ones that I know.
"It be nothing. I'm going to look for a human. I will not be long." She kisses me then leaves without another word. Even her kiss has changed. It is not as warm and loving as I remember it to be. It has gotten slightly colder. I wonder is our condition somehow affected her? I admit it is not easy to accept that I am a vampire, but it hath not pushed me to become a killer. I know Blume, she is not a killer. She would never kill for sport. She kills because it is our nature. Even I hath done it one night. I was ashamed right after, but I was having no luck with my blood substitute. I even asked the guard to not think ill of me. Soon as I get the recipe right I will never drink from a human again.
This burden of being this creature is just what it be. How will Mercy deal with this. I know that she only wished to be with me, but can she handle it? I hath only been this way for a few months, yet I feel as if it were a life time. I forget what it is like to be able to walk out in the sun and being with my family. I miss my parents. I wish to hug them both again. Then again I doubt that they would accept me now that I am. . .this. With another sigh I grab the other bottle of rum. Now as I drink it I feel drunk. So 4 bottles must be a vampire's limit. No matter of that I only hope that my wife will wake. It is all that I hope for. With these new changes perhaps there is a chance for things to be somewhat normal. Aye, there is always a chance for things to go back to normal. Being with my wife forever will be one way that our lives will be bearable again.
