"Hey!" Someone shook me awake.

I groaned as my eyes peeled open, only to see a child, back in Toriel's place.

"Come on, Frisk!"

"Who are you?" I questioned as I slowly got up.

"It's me, Chara! Come on Frisk, mom's waiting!"

She ran out of the room, me slowly following, still weirded out by what was happening. And even more strange, it felt like I wasn't moving. But I sure did feel tired.

"Come, my children," Toriel greeted both of us, making me feel a bit of déjà vu at seeing her.

I sat up and opened my eyes, the run rising over the terrain outside of the window. Sans was outside, hands in pockets and watching the sun as it rose. I slowly got up and headed for the door, wanting to join Sans, questions swamping my mind as I did so.

Why was I back at Toriel's place? Who was Chara? Why was she there? Why was I there?

"You like to watch sunrises too?" Sans asked, making me jump a little bit.

He either didn't notice or didn't want to bring it up as I replied, "No. Just a nightmare. But, now that I see this, yes, I guess I do."

I had never watched sunsets on the surface, and I had never exactly planned on doing so in the Underground. But, it was nice, and peaceful.

"Sans," I turned to face him, "Who was that yesterday? That, um. . . Gaster, guy? A-And he mentioned that there was someone else, possibly a human, based on how he was talking, before me? And t-there's no pressure to tell me, b-but I was just curious."

He didn't respond for a moment, "Let's go inside. It's getting cold."

I couldn't disagree, but I was also a little scared. His voice was dark, as if he was using his threatening tone without meaning to. Or a slightly weaker version of his threatening tone.

We went inside and I flopped on the couch, Sans gently sitting down. We both sat at attention.

"I knew this would happen eventually, so it's fine," He stated first.

He cleared his throat.

"A few years ago, another human, much like you, fell down here. She fell for similar reasons, she was also kind of shy, kind of jumpy, chill, cool and a lot like you. Anyways, Gaster. . . He killed her, because he knew that it'd affect me and now. . . Now I'm just scared that he's going to kill you and I'm going to lose another person who I. . . Who I. . ." He trailed off.

"Why did he kill her?" I asked, my voice quiet.

"T-To weaken me. I-I guess that I should probably explain w-why he wants me weakened. Um. . . Well, when I was younger, my parents were killed by someone and Gaster adopted me. He was awesome up until my magic started really developing. Apparently, he saw that I possessed some great strength, so he locked me up and didn't look back. Eventually, I don't know how long I was down there, Alphys came down for some reason and saw me. She got me out, and Gaster never found out, or at least he didn't do anything drastic. I don't know, Alphys never told my anything regarding that, but I made it out. And so, I was just hanging around, bouncing from place to place, until a nice family took me in. That's when I met Papyrus, and we grew close over the years. It's gotten a bit harder now, with the way everyone is, that terrorist group that's killing monsters, the state that the economy is in, things like that. We've drifted a little bit and the stresses with his work have gotten to him, but it'll be okay in the end. You know?" He turned to look at me at the last part.

I nodded, giving him a small smile, processing all of this.

"I-I'm sorry that I brought you to that place again, Sans," I paused, "You really don't need that. Not again."

He put a hand on mine, making me look to him, "It's fine. It's worth it, because you're safe. And you're here."

What? I felt my face heat up. It was worth it because I'm safe? And here?

"I just. . . It's comforting to know you're safe. . ."

I blushed even further.

There was a short silence.

"Sans?" I whispered.

"Yes?" He whispered back.

"Why do you care?"

Sans seemed to stumble over his words, "I think. . . I think it's because I-I love you. . ." A slight yellow tint spread across his face.

He could blush?

"I-I think I feel the same. . ."
