I had an oddly good night's sleep that night. Despite the pain that I felt while conscious and in the morning, I knew that I was just that tiny bit safer, and that large bit closer to Sans.
"Sans? A-About what happened a few about, a-about us. . ." I thought over my words carefully, sifting through them as if some of them were poison and others were magical spells.
"Y-Yeah? What about it?" He seemed anxious at me suddenly bringing it up.
"I know that you want to protect me, but. . . I don't know what's going to happen next and I just want to. . . We need to be prepared for the worst. Chara will come back, and there will always be other enemies. I-I just want everything to be out in the open now, j-just in case. . ." I frowned, thinking about what this meant for the both of us.
"Frisk," He came closer to me, taking both of my hands, looking me in the eyes, "I know that you think you'll die. But I don't plan on letting that happen, ever. And I will protect you. I will protect all of those I love, even if that means I'm hurt in the end. I will never let anyone hurt you again. Okay?"
I nodded, wiping the tears that had suddenly started to fall.
"I love you," I whispered, my voice as small as I felt in this moment.
"I love you too," Sans took me into his arms, stroking my hair.

We both headed inside, the sun rising beyond the horizon, and both of us getting cold. I said goodbye to Papyrus as he headed off to work, but was surprised when Undyne took his place.
"Hey, Sans, uh. . . This is awkward but, I was wondering, are you going to take Frisk to Asgore? Because she's kind of the last human soul?" She seemed oddly uncomfortable for being the confident fish I had seen on the battlefield and had heard the stories about.
"No, because she isn't going to die because of our cause, which isn't even a worthy cause. There will always be another human, Undyne." Sans kind of took a step in front of me.
I felt myself tense up; something wasn't right.
"It was fifteen years before she had fallen, Sans! We're all tired of waiting and, I'm sorry but. . . I will get that human soul." Undyne summoned multiple spears.
She made the first move, making both Sans and I dodge.
"Who are you! You aren't Undyne! She always lets the other person go first, even if they start it!" Sans shouted, him already prepared to fight back.
"Oh, it's me, just not my usual self!" Undyne replies, charging me specifically.
I jumped to the side but then lost my balance due to a pain in my neck. I landed on the ground, curling up a little bit, my neck pain burning like a thousand suns.
"Look, kid, I don't want to do this. . . But I have to. . ." Undyne really seemed off.
I closed my eyes as she raised the spear. Though nothing happened. I slowly opened my eyes and saw a broken Undyne, along with a struggling Undyne.
"You want to have a bad time, Undyne?" Sans asked, his voice dangerously low.
"He'll kill her! Alphys! He'll kill Alphys if I don't bring back that human's soul!" Undyne shouted, suddenly crying.
Sans deactivated his magic and let her go.
"What?"
"Gaster. He said that he'd kill Alphys if I-I didn't kill Frisk and bring back her soul. I didn't know what to do but I-I thought. . . I-I thought. . ." Undyne whipped away the tears, crossing her arms weakly.
"You decided to protect the one that you love. . ." Sans finished for her.
She nodded, laughing a little bit.
"I don't know what anyone of us did to deserve this."
"Nothing," I crawled through the broken window, making sure not to get myself hurt, "We did nothing. It is only him, and his undying need for revenge and power."
I looked down for a moment, thinking.
"We could set him up."
