"It really depends on Derek now". Stiles voice rung in Derek's ears as he stood outside.

He smiled, which was very rare, as his super sonic wolf hearing heard Stiles last words before falling asleep, I like Derek, he couldn't believe it, Stiles liked him back. He stood debating if he was going to go into the room and sleep with Stiles. He knew he couldn't be away from Stiles, but he didn't know how he could tell him that. He wasn't so kin on expressing his emotions, he'd lost all sense of them after his family burned alive, well some of his family. He wasn't quite sure if he could tell Stiles how much he liked being around him. He sighed shrugging his shoulders, he could do this, its no pressure, but boy was he wrong he couldn't quite move, it was like he was rooted right where he stood. He knew he couldn't control himself around Stiles, it was like he was his trigger.

And if he was his trigger he'd have to stay away from him, because all those emotions he'd feel would boil up and burst causing him to hurt Stiles. He was his trigger, that was no doubt. He wanted to go up there and snuggle up with Stiles but he just turned and left, he didn't want to hurt Stiles, it wasn't easy being around a trigger, especially one like Stiles, and control yourself. He beat himself up as he got closer to the Hale house, he could've just sucked it up and laid with Stiles, it always calmed him down. But it was only nine so he could go later if he wanted to, of course he wanted to he grinned walking into the house.

Somehow he couldn't get rid of Isaac, Boyd, Erica, and Peter. He wanted them to just leave him be, his uncle, Peter, realized it and scurried off to do God knows what, the others just sat about gazing at Derek.

"So?" Isaac said awkwardly.

Derek looked up to see that Isaac had sat across from him, while Erica, arms crossed, and Boyd, hands tucked in his pockets, stood cautiously away.

"So what?" Derek shrugged glaring at Isaac.

Isaac knew who the Alpha was, and had whimpered as Derek exerted his dominance in the pack, but right now he just wanted to help his sad stricken Alpha, even if he was to be scared away any second.

"What's with the gloomy attitude?" Boyd asked.

"It's nothing". Derek said

"It doesn't seem like nothing". Isaac pointed out
Derek inhaled then exhaled sharply fighting the urge to growl at his betas.

"Is it Scott or Stiles?" Erica asked throwing caution to the wind.

"None". Derek said looking away.

All three betas heard Derek's heart grow louder, and so did he because he turned from staring at them to the window then to his chest glowering as it became louder.

"Ah so it is Scott or Stiles". Boyd pressed amusingly.

"No it's not". Derek lied again his heart pumping more.

"We'll never know unless we ask a name one by one". Erica suggested.

Derek shot her a stern unfriendly glare, he was about to protest but was beat to the chase.

"So is it Scott?" Boyd asked before Derek could open his mouth to object Erica's suggestion.

"No". He barked knowing he shouldn't have answered.

"So it's Stiles then?" Isaac asked curiosity consuming him.

"No". Derek said his voice tight.

It was a weak lie, the betas heard his heart hammer away in his chest as he heard Stiles in his head "I like Derek", louder then they've ever heard it before, it wasn't just his heart that gave him away it was also his scent.

"It smells like... Like---

"Like love". Erica said eyeing Derek.

No one but, Allison, Scott and Lydia, knew Erica had a big crush on nerdy, sarcastic, overly brave Stiles, everyone else had no clue, not even Derek, her Alpha, and well Stiles too of course. She couldn't let them find out now, so she thought of something else to keep her level headed.

"Your in love with Stiles?" Isaac asked in disbelief.

"Yes, but not the way you think, he... He's more of a trigger for me". Derek told them.

"A trigger?" All three betas asked confused glancing at one another.

Derek had forgotten that they were new to all this (yet they seemed to grasp the meaning of the many different scents, he fumed to himself) so he rubbed his forehead then looked at them, he just had to have a bunch of hormonal, clueless teenagers in his pack didn't he.

"A trigger is someone who brings out all of your emotions be they fear, anger, happiness and such things when your around them, but they're your control factor, they help you unshift from becoming wolfed out". Derek explained the best way he could.

"How long have you felt this way for Stiles, or anyone for that matter?" Isaac asked fascinated.

"For everyone else only a few weeks to a month or two". Derek answered.

"Then this'll pass in no time and you'd be back to being a loner". Erica decided clasping her hands together, a real bright smile across her face.

"Not with Stiles it's different it's been like this since I met him, it won't go away it's like the harder I try the closer I'm pulled in, I just need to stay away from him". Derek told them.

"Why would you do that if he's your trigger?" Isaac asked not understanding what all the fuss was about.

"Because I don't want to hurt Stiles". Derek breathed into his hands.

"But you won't especially since he's your trigger, won't he just snap you out of your shift with one of his sarcastic or cleverly worded remarks?" Boyd asked.

Derek saw that his betas were understanding of him and his struggle to be with or not to be with Stiles.

"I know but I keep thinking what if I hurt him". Derek uttered.

"Do you want to hurt him?" Boyd asked.

"No". Derek answered looking up apprehensively.

"Then stop putting boundaries between the two of you and work this out, I can see you and Stiles together". Isaac encouraged smiling.

"Uh thanks". Derek said getting up.

"No problem". Isaac said.

Derek grabbed his jacket and walked to the door.

"Where are you going?" Boyd asked.

"Out". Derek told him shutting the door, "it really depends on Derek now" he heard Stiles as he walked off through the woods.

Isaac and Boyd was right, he shouldn't place boundaries between him and Stiles because it made him distance himself more and more, and he knew Stiles would help him control himself, he always did. He walked hesitantly wondering if he was making a big mistake, he wasn't because Stiles wasn't a mistake, the mistake was trying to convince himself to stay away when he really didn't want that. But no matter how hard he tried to turn around he found himself getting closer to Stiles' house. Stepping onto the lawn he saw that Stiles lights were still out, he was still asleep. Derek leaped onto the roof. This is it he told himself, no turning back, "it really depends on Derek" his mind played again as he pulled the window open. As he crawled through the window he saw Stiles move and heard him say, again, as clear as day, "I like Derek", as he clutched onto his pillow.

He was dreaming about him, and that made his heart pound, and his lips crack a smile. He liked him too but didn't know how to tell him. He cursed at himself for not being able to express his feelings, it should be easy it was Stiles for crying out loud. He toed off his shoes. Stiles moved again and he stiffened. I like Derek Stiles voice played back like a tape recorder in his mind. He couldn't stop thinking about it, it really made him warm and fuzzy inside.

He couldn't let his fear consume him anymore, he was going to lay with his mate and he wasn't having any second thoughts about it. He got into the bed, his shirt and pants off, and got comfortably into the bed.
