Derek came just as he'd told Stiles. Instead of staying all day like yesterday Derek was gone before Stiles had woke up. Disappointed yet relieved to not have to deal with his traitorous give away of a heart Stiles made his bed then went to take a shower.
"Stiles?" His father called from the bottom of the staircase.
"Dad?" Stiles countered.
"Good morning". He said.
"Good morning dad". Stiles said going in the bathroom.
He took a very relaxing shower, the water flowed smoothly on his skin unwinding the tense muscles he'd accumulated sleeping next to Derek. He'd tried not to be too close to Derek causing him to stiffen up. He got out of the shower and dashed to his room, he'd only had fifteen minutes to leave or he was going to be late for morning practice. Though he really didn't think it mattered it wasn't like he was going to get off the bench anyway.
"Think you'll be playing Saturday?" Noah asked as he walked in the kitchen.
"Honestly I don't think so, I'm more of a bench warmer". Stiles answered a hint of utter annoyance in his voice.
Noah shot him an awkward smile before drinking some coffee. He knew all to well Stiles usually sat on the bench, but he never gave up hope that he'd see his son playing a game or two.
"Maybe that'll change Stiles". His father said auspiciously.
"Not if I don't make it to practice". Stiles said second guessing getting some breakfast, "on second thought I just need coffee", he said taking his father's mug of coffee, "thanks dad, love you see you later". And he was out the door.
Stiles drove to school trying so hard not to think about Derek. Yet, no matter how much he focused his clattered mind on lacrosse, or Scott, or even Allison and her very frightening and werewolf hunting father, Mr. Argent, he couldn't resist the urge to trail the depths of his mind on Derek. He suddenly turned, for a split second, his thoughts to Lydia, his crush, well at least she used to be. He was trying to overwork his mind, but no matter how hard or how many times he tried Derek still infiltrated his mind. Maybe his feelings for Derek were real and he couldn't explain why. Maybe it was Derek's forcefulness or maybe how mysterious and brooding he was. Stiles couldn't stop his heart from thumping as he got out of his car, he saw Scott waiting for him by the stairs.
"Anything new?" Stiles asked desperately trying to make his Derek filled mind subside.
"No not really just same old stuff you know alphas and new impending threats, and practice was rescheduled". Scott told him as they trailed the busy hallway.
"Same old same old". Stiles muttered, he was happy practice was rescheduled.
The wind blew forcefully and Scott sniffed the air conspicuously. Stiles, thinking it was another wolf they didn't know, looked at Scott apprehensively.
"What is it?" Stiles inquired as he looked around.
"I don't know it's a very strong scent lingering around". Scott answered sniffing about.
"What is it then?" Stiles asked.
"It's something I've smelt before but it's faint and mixed with something else". Scott said his nose pressed to the sky as though he was trying to sense the entirety of Beacon Hills.
Stiles looked around then realized what Scott said and he knew that something he smelt before was Derek. And as soon as he pieced the smell together so did Scott because he turned on his heels and sniffed Stiles intensely.
"Don't be alarmed but you reek of Derek's scent". Scott said as he backed away.
"No way!" Stiles laughed.
