All the decorations were right in place when Grace and I entered the already full house of mine which turned into a party palace.
Thomas and Norah had come too, seeing her in her usual jeans and a tank top I smiled in my mind, she's never into dresses or any of the girly things, she's always been a tomboy, that's what made her stand out from other girls in my view.
It felt great having all these people at home to help us celebrate James's 20th birthday.
Realizing I hadn't informed Jac about this I excused myself from Grace and searched for my phone in my pockets, forgetting that I left it in my room I hurried over and rang him up, he picked up on the second ring.
"Hey Joe, I can't believe you started missing me so soon! Honey I just left you like half an hour ago"
"Hey Jac, time to spare?" I asked ignoring his blabber.
"Yeah, want me by your side again?" he asked and I could see him smirking from right here.
I too got in and said "yes I need you every second, now hurry to my place"
"Okay baby, as you say so" and we hung up.
I chuckled at our friendship and went down. Within ten minutes we heard a bell on the door at first we thought it would be James, but James had spare keys he didn't need to ring the bell so Grace peeped into the peephole.
"I don't know who that is, but he's surely to be your friend" she said pointing her finger towards me.
I went ahead and opened the door and Jac came running towards me and gave me a bear hug.
"I'm here love and I'll never leave again" he whispered in my ear as though he was gay.
I pushed him away while he pouted at me for my act of leaving him whereas mom stood there giving me deadly glares.
Did mom think that Jac was..I did a silent laughter at the thought of that and went towards mom reassuring her that he's my best friend who loses his mind sometimes.
"You must be Mrs. Williams, nice to meet you, I'm Jacob Brian" he forwarded his hand towards my mom which she took in gracefully and gave him a warm smile.
"Nice to meet you too Jacob" she said while still holding his hand.
Dad came with a few snacks and we prepared ourselves for James to finally come.
Grace stood by the lights to switch it on when he enters while Jac and I stood opposite to her with party poppers in our hand itching to turn it around, other all people hid themselves, and we waited for five minutes patiently without uttering a word since James thought we all had gone out and made him quite pissed by ignoring him all day so that this surprise actually surprises him.
As we heard the footsteps nearing, the door knob turning, we were ready as though for a war. When we saw him appear we all did our jobs, Grace turned on the lights everyone from their hiding position popped out screaming "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" while Jac and I turned the party poppers which exploded into the air, the silent house turning to a very noisy place just in a while.
James was stupefied, the last time we did this was when he turned 13, he had absolutely no faith that we'd do it again. He stood there completely shocked while his mouth gaped open. I smiled to myself that he actually found this surprise surprising.
