12. With a splash

Another chap...enjoy!

Nora's POV 

I know Joe might be thinking I'm a weirdo because of the way I was speaking to that cuddly beast.... but honestly it was a very cute one, I couldn't control myself, who could blame me, I'm an animal lover for loves sake.

Joe and I continued walking towards nowhere and then I remembered the prank they pulled, "Hey by the way, that prank you guys pulled on Mr. Asshelmet was lit!" 

"Ohh thanks peachy, anything to make you laugh." He smiled that million dollar smile.

 I realized I was blushing crimson red when he called me peachy, it's not a lovey dovey nick name but I still like it, it holds a lot of childhood memories. I remember the reason why he started calling me that in the first place, Joe has always been a prankster he loves all that, and as we were very close during that phase of our lives, I used to get embarrassed, and that resulted in my skin going red and him calling me that. I used to not like it in the beginning but got used to it and now I love it.

Joe's POV 

I saw the blush on her face and I know I caused it. "Where's your mind wandering?" I asked after seeing that she had become distant.

"Ummm nowhere" She lied. Yes she did, right in my face!

"Ohh I know what you're thinking about!" I saw the questioning look in  her eyes and answered "You're thinking about Mr. AssHelmet aren't you?"

I saw the sudden look of humor in her eyes at my statement. "Yes Joe you're absolutely right, I got no better work in this universe other than to think about that fleshly piece of human" she made a disgusted face probably because she got a mental image of Mr. Asshelmet  giving her a toothed grin, and then it was my turn to make a gross face at the thought of that.

"Mr. Asshelmet! Seriously? What sort of a name is that? And which parents name their child that? I mean come on that's EVIL! You're not supposed to give such evil names to a child, look what he's become now! His name reflects in his face!"

As soon as she said those words I burst laughing and soon was joined by her.

"There you are, bloody loser!" A voice came from behind which made us jump out of fright. I turned around to see who the idiot was and it turned to be none other than Jac, sometimes he really makes me wonder why am I even friends with that man.

"Yes, why?" 

"Why? Joe you're asking me why?"

"Yes Jac exactly the thing!"

"Well it's just that I wanted to sleep, and there was no one and I had creepy thoughts which prevented me from sleeping alone so..." He took a moment to breath and continued, "I started searching for you, traced your smell like a dog thinking I'd find you, but that was of no avail and just when I was thinking to go ask your sister to accompany me, I heard laughter noises ..." He again took a moment to breath and, "so I traced it and here you are asking me why!"

I could see Nora being ridiculed, damn him for ruining my moment with her.

"Ohh hey guys" Another voice, this time it was Grace.

"Hey" we all said in unison. 

"We heard some commotion, is everything alright?" Asked Sebastian coming from behind her. 

"Ohhh it's just nothing, Jac got bitten by a rattle snake on his butt" I noticed his expression.

"No, Joe has got a rod up in his.."

"Stop it guys" Nora cuts our useless chatter getting annoyed, she is easily prone to annoyance. "We were just talking" She said finally.

"What are you two doing here?" I asked, curiosity climbing up my spine.

I saw the blush on Grace's face when she answered me "We were just strolling the grounds." She looked up at her so called Seb and they both shared a smiled and left me feeling grossed out.

"Ohh stop it you both, makes me feel like a lonely loner." Remarked Jac like a drama queen that he is and it earned him a nudge in his shoulder by a smiling Grace.

And then came a moment of silence for whom? I had no idea but it was as though we all lost our gift of speech and just kept looking at each other, standing there awkwardly in the silence.

"Ready or not here I come" came Nora's voice from somewhere in the forest. Yes, what you're thinking is absolutely correct, we the five toddlers are playing hide and seek.  

I was hiding behind a huge tree near the lake while a plan kept running in my giant head. As soon as she came closer to me, wearing her black shorts and an off shoulder top, to declare to everyone that she found me, I didn't give her a chance to open her mouth as I grabbed her by her waist, picked her up in the air and jumped in the cold lake.

 We both came up gasping for air, she looked at me with anger but that only lasted for a second before a smile replaced her anger filled features and the next thing I know is that she's laughing and splashing water on me. The next one to join us is Jac who removed his shirt and jumped in the water, making us turn ourselves the other side to be safe from the huge splash which he caused, then came Grace and Seb. Jac and I started doing a duck dance in the lake, while the other three just giggled and splashed water on us.

 It was late afternoon, by the time we all had dried ourselves from the early splash, and were having sandwich prepared by Grace for lunch. Sebastian was the only distant one, as he takes time to be comfortable and open up around people.
