I sat up and gasped for air.
I was in the girls tent. I had fallen asleep.
It was all just a dream.
I got up and went to release someone of their watch duty.
I unzipped the door, stepped out, and re-zipped it.
I turned to see Carl on watch.
"Carl?" I whispered. "What are you doing?"
"Taking watch. You had fallen asleep when you were sitting here." He explained to me.
"Oh." I started to walk over to sit by him.
"What are you doing?" He asked."Go back to bed. I'll take watch." He insisted.
"No, it's not your group Carl. I'll take over." I explained.
"You guys are one of us now. David told me how you haven't slept since California. You've taken control and you're trying your hardest to keep everyone safe."
"Ya, I kinda feel like it is my job." I admitted.
"It's not. But, you've shown full commitment to your group and their needs."
I just kinda shook my head in agreement. I didn't know what to say.
He grabbed my hand.
I'm pretty sure my face turned red.
I looked down at our hands, then at his eyes. As I dazed into them, it seemed like they were getting closer. Next thing I knew I felt cold on my lips.
I clicked back into reality.
I didn't know what to do. I closed my eyes.
"Ann?"
I jumped, opened my eyes, and turned to see Dawn.
Her mouth was open and her blue eyes were huge.
"Um. um. um. Yes?" I stuttered.
Her mouth closed. She cleared her throat.
"I have to pee." She oddly commented.
"Then go pee Dawn!" I was embarrassed.
She giggled and walked away.
"Um, well. I'll let you take watch now." Carl said.
"Yea, okay. See you later. "
He got up quickly and went inside his house.
All I could do was smile.
