A single tear rolled out of my right eye. Tear of happiness.
She was my favorite Aunt. She use to take me to Disneyland and take me to the "sticker" store.
I was eight when she "died". It broke my heart into million pieces.
I guess why I didn't recognize her was because, after she "died" I was so upset I deleted her from my brain. But, when Steve asked who I lost before this, I thought of her. But, her face was still gone from my brain.
I hugged her and she wrapped her arms around me.
"I didn't recognize you! You look so much more mature!" She smiled.
My heart felt like it had when she was "alive". When we went to Disneyland together. The rush of the roller coasters and us laughing so hard that our stomachs stared to hurt.
"Aunt Katy?" I let go of her and looked her start in the eyes. "Why did you pretend to die?"
She sighed and rubbed her hands together nervously, "Well, me and your Uncle Todd were having some problems. We were about to get a divorce, but then I found out I was having a baby. I thought, 'Okay I'll take my baby with me after the divorce.' But, when I went to the doctors to find out the gender of my baby, I found out I was having twin girls. Your Uncle thought it was the best thing ever. He would take one and I would take the other one, but I couldn't do that to the girls. Them never knowing about each other, never playing together, never wearing the exact same clothes, never being able to mess with people heads. I couldn't do that. So, after I gave birth to them, I named them and told the doctors what to do. They did it."
"Wow. You did that all for them?" I was astounded.
"Yes, just so they didn't have to be separated."
"Sucks they would never get to meet their amazing mother." I gasped. That came out wrong. "Aunt Katy, I didn't mean it that way. It came out wrong. I'm sorry."
"Annalynn, it's okay. I know what you ment."
I slapped my face and put my head down in my lap.
"What did I say wrong?" she questioned.
"Annalynn? Your name is Annalynn!?" David looked at me.
I hated my real name. I made sure on the first day of school in every class, before the teacher took role, to tell them just to call me Ann. But, now that everyone of my friends knew... my life was over.
"Yes, okay my real name is Annalynn." My head was still on my lap.
A few started giggling.
"Go ahead, laugh."
The few that were gigging started laughing really loud.
"Hey, I like that name."
I looked up to see Carl standing on the steps. "Thanks Carl. At lease you, David, and Cheyanne didn't laughed." I squinted at the other.
They started cracking up again.
I rolled my eyes.
"Hey, can I talk to you real quick?" Carl asked me.
"Yea. Sure." I got up and followed him to the side of the house.
"My dad said Rose can be released, but she has to have someone with or near her at all times."
"Okay, tell your dad and the rest of them that I said thank you."
"Will do." He smiled at me.
I turned to head over to the van to let Rose out, when Carl grabbed my arm. I turned and looked at him.
"Annalynn isn't a bad name. It's different. Be proud of your name."
"I would be more proud of my name, if my drunk grandfather didn't name me." I remarked.
I started to walk to the van, again.
"Wait." He paused and thought. "What's your middle name then?"
"The world may never know." I replied.
I got to the van and told Rose the news.
"So, a supervisor all the time?" she asked.
"Yes. Or just intill they believe your completely safe." I told her.
I cut the ropes off her hands and legs.
We walked to the group, they all just stared at her.
"Um, what is the murder doing out?" Dawn asked.
"Rick said that she's okay we just have to watch her." I told them.
"Okay...Annalynn." Steve laughed.
"That's it." I got up and punched his arm.
I went back and sat between my Aunt and David.
Everyone cleared off of a single log and squeezed into two logs. Dawn, Steve, and Wren on one and Marie and Cheyanne on the other.
Rose had a log to herself. No one wanted to sit by the murder.
It might of been an accident, but she was still a murder.
