Chapter Twenty
Ah'Taria, The Coliseum
As they walked back to the middle of the coliseum Kaelen made quick work eliminating two families that had entered the match that according to Lucas and Jacob were unnecessary. Mentally tallying up the people left Kaelen wondered where the last traitor was so that he could dispatch her and her family quickly.
"I'm bored," said Kaelen as he turned and looked at Ebony. Cocking an eyebrow he walked toward her, "I wonder what Jacob sees in you."
Ebony stared past his left ear as she mumbled, "How many more people before this is over?" Who knows what any of you cucuy think? Just hurry up and finish, thought Ebony as she avoided eye contact.
Kaelen gave her a half smile as he approached her with his hands in his pockets, "Tell me what I have done to make you distrust me."
Ebony wanted to roll her eyes but said in a low voice, "You are currently using me as bait. There are three people directly behind me and instead of warning me you are letting them get closer."
Kaelen chuckled, "I'm not using you as bait. I am letting them think we are both unaware of their presence."
Ebony turned away from his smug smile, "I'm sure." Shifting to her other foot she bent down in time to miss a deadly energy pulse that was aimed at her head.
Kaelen cocked an eye in surprise as she nimbly avoided the pulse sent from Lavett Nobles.
Ebony didn't waste time when she spun and attacked Lavett sending several electric pulses toward her. Fully aware those attacks would not work she made sure to lessen the distance between them. Once she was in front of the shocked Ah'Tarian she smiled and sent a forward kick to her midsection followed by elbow to her back. When Lavett tried to get back up she kicked her hard in the stomach flipping her over.
"You Ah'Tarians rely too much on the brute strength of your powers," with those words she sent her fist into her jaw knocking the woman unconscious.
Kaelen couldn't believe Ebony was able to take out Lavett Nobles so swiftly but didn't have time to give it too much thought. Coming from the bushes was Carolina Perez with her daughter Savannah, the family on the list.
"It seems I may have underestimated both of you," drawled Carolina as her beady black eyes stared coldly at them.
Performing the beibi suteppu to close the distance between herself and Ebony she sent a back hand that sent her to the ground hard. Jumping back to her feet Ebony charged the woman shielding herself from several stinging pulses. Once within arms distances she sent a straight hand punch to the woman's beak like nose.
"You boorish whore," yelled Carolina as she held her nose, she frowned as she realized her attacks weren't phasing Ebony. Glancing over she saw her daughter was laying at Kaelen's feet dead.
Screaming in fury she sent a deadly waves toward Kaelen, "I'll destroy you!"
Nonchalantly, Kaelen raised his hand absorbing the attack. Waving his hand he watched as her head was dislocated from her body.
Ebony stared at the rolling head in horror before turning to look away. Trying not to throw up the breakfast she'd eating she hurried past him and up the trail so they could make it to the center of the coliseum. Oh my goddess, he's sick in the head.
Kaelen stared at her back listening to every thought before finally connecting with Kayla. I believe your friend is afraid of me, he joked.
I'm afraid of you Kae! What in all of Jericho are you doing? Why are you killing those people and why isn't anyone in the audience noticing? Screamed Kayla through the link.
