Everyone is used to his/her own way of writing.
There are people who prefer to write on paper and then transfer the final draft on their pc.
There are others who write on the platform they publish eg blog, wattpad etc
Most of people tend to use Microsoft Office and save the drafts. (You know that this can end to a big mess when you start editing and you find yourself with several versions of the same chapter.)
In case you are writing novels of thousands words and you find yourself a bit loss in the process of editing, searching for plot holes in the arc etc then maybe scrivener is the proper software for you. It's designed for every format that I writer may chose to write and makes it easier to navigate yourself among scenes, chapters etc
