The South Korean government has decided to make good use of the popularity of SHINee and EXO when it selected both of the SM Entertainment boy group to promote various tourist attractions for the Gangnam district of South Korea.

The South Korea Tourism Department said that the selection of SHINee and EXO was due to the immense popularity of both of the idol groups among foreign tourists, especially K-pop fans, and can help to raise tourism promotion in South Korea.

“SHINee and EXO are popular in Japan, China, Vietnam, Thailand, and other countries. We believe they are the right models to be chosen as the new ambassador of Gangnam tourism board,” South Korea Tourism Department stated.

SHINee and EXO will begin their Gangnam district tourism promotion next March in places like Gangnam-Gu (Gangnam District), airports, and other centers of activity that are often passed by tourists.
