Just the day after the next, Wu closed his eyes and meditated. The Hypnobrai hadn't made a move since Jamanakai; that means Lloyd was planning something.

Scarlett's warning of Cole never left his mind. When opening his eyes, he grabbed some sort of flute from an open closet and placed it inside a more secure, large box.

Inside her room, Nya took out her phone and sent a message to said girl.

Nya:
scar! do you think you can come over today? i was hoping we could start working on the actual suit for the mech since the boys will hopefully be busy training

Scarlett:
aww, i have a shoot today love :( it's gonna take all day
i'm actually on my way there lol
but i'm free again tomorrow!! in the afternoon anyway
your stupid brother saw the rest of my schedule for this week so he said he wanted to pick me up in the city with his dragon when i was done
his dragon!! i'm excited

Her responses, in different text bubbles, came pretty quick. Nya smiled.

Nya:
sounds good then. but i guess you'll miss zane's cooking tonight

Scarlett:
is he a good cook?
please save me some leftovers or i'll cry

Nya:
i will... just don't cry

Nya couldn't help but think about her. If Wu knew Scarlett's mother, why didn't he say anything to her about it?

And it didn't seem like Scarlett recognized him at all. Though he did say a long time ago, so she could very well assume her mother was either dead or simply gone.

"Huh... I wonder."

The ninjas had quite some things to ponder about their teammate—brother, really—Zane: how strange he was, the fact that he never received anything from his parents. That stemmed from the fact that he was an orphan; another thing they didn't know about.

But if there was one thing they loved about him, it was his expertise in the kitchen.

On the table that night were pieces of shrimp, chili, and small slices of meat. And that was only the appetizer.

"Mm," Jay hummed in satisfaction as he swallowed some shrimp. "I love it when it's Zane's night to cook."

"Hey, I didn't hear any complaints about my duck chowder last night," Cole spoke up.

Kai placed a hand on his shoulder, sending him a grin. "That's because it glued our mouths shut. You really thought Jay was speechless all throughout dinner?"

"Yeah, please don't make that again."

The doors from the kitchen opened and out came Zane with one of the largest, delicious looking chicken anyone there had ever seen. Unfortunately, that wasn't what they were paying attention to.

As soon as they laid eyes on the baby pink apron the ninja in white wore, everyone sitting down cracked up.

Yet he was unable to understand why. "What's... so funny?"

"Zane, you're..." Nya let out a small giggle. "Hell, even I wouldn't wear that!"

He walked toward the end of the table so he could face everyone. "You laugh because I take steps to ensure I am clean after cooking?"

Kai practically guffawed. "No, we laugh because you came out wearing that ridiculous outfit!"

"I... guess we don't share the same sense of humor."
