Scarlett was already out of the theatre and far into the streets. She made sure she was always surrounded by people so Pythor didn't have much of an opportunity to catch her; he still wanted to lay low, after all.
"Nya," she muttered into the comm. in her ear, "I'm in the city with the Fangblade. Can you come pick me up?"
"Already on it," she replied. "I'm above you. It's kinda easy to tell where you are, you're wearing all white."
"Fuck, man," the teen muttered as she held the trophy close to her body.
"Just keep walking ahead. I need a good spot to drop the anchor for you."
Scarlett couldn't help the icky feeling in her stomach. "I think they might be coming for me, Nya."
"Then you have to fight your way to me. Don't worry, I have my eye on you. If Samurai X needs to come out, she will."
This relieved her somewhat. She was okay until the next block over, she was forcefully yanked to the ground by the leg.
Her face hit the concrete. "Son of a—"
"We can do thisss the easy way, or the hard way, girl," a minor constrictai threatened.
The fall caused her to lose grip on the trophy. She slowly stood up, making sure it was still next to her.
Picking it up with one hand, Scarlett wiped the blood off her cheek with the back of her other. "Bite me, bitch."
By now, there was no sign of anyone anywhere. Of course, they knew exactly where to fight.
Fortunately, the one snake didn't have a long tail such as his commander. Though he did have the same brute force and drill ability.
He used it to his advantage. The serpent drilled underground, making her look in every possible direction and leaving her wondering where he was going to pop back up.
"Where did he go...?" she mumbled.
"Scarlett! Are you okay?" Nya asked.
"For now..." the teen hesitantly replied. "Just keep an eye out for me. I'm not sure where this snake went."
For safety measures, she lit her free hand up in a dark flame.
"You know, I would never have guessed you of all people would become an ally to the ninja."
The deep voice of Pythor spoke behind her. She whipped her body around, launching the flame at him without another second's thought.
Yet he disappeared before he was hit. "Uh oh." He reappeared behind her, knocking her down with his golden staff. "Too sssslow."
Scarlett's back hit the fence of a park. With a pained grunt, she tried getting back to her feet.
Pythor slithered over to her. "You clearly lack experience in battle. Ssstamina. Endurance. Your only redeeming quality is your strange power."
The Fangblade was once again out of her grasp. As he was going to grab it just a few feet away from her, she shot a small bit of fire at his hand.
He yelped in anguish, harshly yanking his hand away. She was able to jump to her feet, hurrying over to grab the trophy and backing away a bunch of steps.
"You're right. I do lack all of those necessary abilities," she agreed, taking a few deep breaths. "But I'm still training. And I'm going to do what I can the best way possible."
Scarlett kept her hand holding the relic tight, and more importantly, hot. Just as she was going to launch another flame at Pythor, the constrictai finally rose up from the road. Startled, she held her hand out, a wall of flames blocking him from touching her.
