I just moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Me and my mother moved here to get away from my dad. I miss my old town but oh well.
My mom remarried but I don't like the guy.
He hates me and I hate him it works.

"It's my first day of school in my new town. It's a fresh start, I can meet new friends, learn new things and have loads of fun." I excitedly say as I pull on pants and hop over to my dresser to grab a shirt.
I pull on a blue shirt and put my hair in a ponytail. I strut over to my mirror and smile at what I see.
"Honey, come on you don't wanna be late on your first day at your new school !" my mom yells and I turn off my music.
I run down stairs and flip off the end step.
I land and my mom turns around as I walk toward the kitchen table.
"Be careful when you do that please?" she pleads and I nod bitting into my toast.

I finish my toast and grab my backpack. "Mom I'm going to head to school now."
I yell to the kitchen as I open the front door. My mom dashes out of the kitchen and hugs me.
"Give me a second. I'll drive you to school." she says and starts walking back to the kitchen.
"No it's okay I'll walk, I know the way." I yell.
"Are you sure ?" my mom peeks out from the kitchen as I grab my favorite leather jacket and tuck my hair into a hat. I give her a dismissing nod and head out the door.

I walk over the train tracks and a feeling of people following me rushes over me. I don't turn and keep walking, but a little faster. I hear an engine rev and I shake my head.
"Hey grease, you need a shower !" a voice shouts.
I swing around and see about 5 boys in a light blue mustang. They seem shocked and then smile at each other. They hop out of the car and walk toward me.
"What is a girl like you doing on the east side ?" A voice asked. I refuse to answer.
"Eh, it don't matter. She can come back to the west side, with us..." a voice says and I could sense the sly smile.
I shake my head. "Listen, you come with us and no one gets hurt." a voice says slowly growing angry. I didn't stop walking so now I'm in a park.
"No , I'm not going with you." I snap.
I feel something push me to the ground and one of them sits on me and pins me down. I try to scream but they put a cloth and a big hand over my mouth.
The one who sat on me reaches into his back pocket and pulls out a blade. He hands it to another guy behind my head.
He lifts up my head and takes off my hat . "Are these guys going to kill me?" I panic. I hear the slice of the blade. The guy holds up my hair that was pulled into a ponytail in front of my face.
"LET HIM GO !" I hear a voice yell. I swallow hard. I hear the flip of a blade and the guy gets off of me and bolts away.

A dark figure holds a hand out to me. I accept it and get up. The figure looks at the ground not looking at me.
"T-thanks for s-saving me." I say and rub the back of my neck awkwardly.
He finally looks up at me.
He has black hair and dark eyes. They look kind but also fearful. He wears a jean vest. A black t-shirt and blue jeans.
"I- I'm sorry I called you a dude before. Girls here don't usually wear pants. Um that c-came out wrong." He trails off. I giggle and hold out my hand.
"I'm Alice, but you can call Ace. You're funny." He shakes my hand and smiles.
"I'm Johnny. What I meant by what I said before was that all the girls here wear dresses and skirts not pants, you savvy?"
I tilt my head in confusion.
"It means, "yah dig ?"." He says and I cock an eyebrow.
He laughs "You got a lot to learn. Ya know my buddy Two-Bit does the same thing. Where were you going ?"
I nudge my head toward my backpack that lied on the ground.
"Oh, well I'm sure those boys won't be bothering you no more. Well as long as you're with me. Um what I mean is that,"
He stumbles on his words.
I hold up my hand. "It's okay, I get it. Hey, if it wasn't for you I might of gotten more than a hair cut." I joke and put my hand on the ends of my new hair.
"Oh, no. What will my mom say ?" I ask Johnny. He just shrugs.
"At least your mom will notice..." he trails off.
"You better get going to school. You might be late." Johnny changes the subject.
"Can you come with me ? You know, to protect me from those boys." I plead and he shrugs. I put on my best puppy dog eyes and look at him pleading. I look him in the eyes and he has puppy dog eyes too.

We walk together and talk. Savvy means "you dig" which means "got it ?" It also means you're cool.
Also I learned Johnny's part of a gang. Well not really a gang but a rowdy group of friends. His best friends name is Ponyboy, kinda weird but I don't judge.
He also tells me what he looks like.
He tells me about his parents and I feel sorry for him.
"You wanna know why those guys jumped you ?" he asks and I nod.
"They thought you were a greaser, you sure looked the part. When they saw you were a girl they wanted you." he finishes.
"But why did they want me ?" I question.
"Y'all awfully pretty for a east side girl. I guess you don't like action like the rest of them. Oh yeah and what I mean by east side girl I mean greaser, they were Socs. Rich assholes from the west side. And man do I hate their kind." Johnny had a angry/sly face on.

"Umm, wait..." I stop myself.
"You mean on the other side of the RailRoad ?" I ask him.
"Yeah, why ?" he asks and looks at me.
The school bell screamed. I hadn't realized we were so close.
"Umm I gotta go. Catch ya after school ?" I ask him.
"Yeah," he grins and I notice he didn't have anything for school.
"Yah comin ?" I ask him.
He shakes his head. "No I don't go to school, but that kid Ponyboy I told you about, he goes to school here. Find him, try to make friends with him, then tell him that his buddy Johnny cake send y'all. Also tell Ponyboy to find me after school, but to get you first. Ya dig?" I nodded and started jogging toward the school.
"Hey Ace," Johnny calls to me. I turn and see him smiling.

"You dig okay."
