Words of Advice
My dear friend,
You say that you’re in love with him,
But are you really in the end?
His lips kiss your head,
His hands shelter yours,
And he wipes away the tears you shed.
I know you may not care,
Or listen to what I say,
But please listen closely if you dare.
What if he chooses to leave,
With stories built on lies,
What will you believe?
I’ve been there myself,
And that’s why I warn you,
Please take care of yourself.
Once you give your heart away,
It can’t be taken back,
You world will seem to turn to gray,
And color will seem to lack.
So I’ll be your shoulder to cry on,
If your heart begins to tear,
And you feel like nothing but a pawn.
I know it may seem perfect today,
But perfect never last,
And there’s always a price to pay.
Love doesn’t last,
I’ve learned that for myself,
So please don’t repeat my past.
So there you are,
Your face stained with tears,
And your heart left with a scar.
I know you want to hate him,
But your heart still feels his love,
And it hurts your every limb.
But I’ll be there to help you,
When you need me most,
I may not know exactly what to do,
But I promise that boy is toast.
He doesn’t know what he’s done,
But he broke your heart,
And for that he better run.
