Mr Schue opened the door to the choir room and was surprised to see that the New Directions were already there. He stood there unnoticed as the students looked on as Finn, Sam and Puck prepared to continue their rehearsal.

"OK, from the top!" Finn said enthusiastically as Sam and Puck, sitting on either side of him, started playing their acoustic guitars.

Mr Schue smiled to himself. It was just like the New Directions to put in extra time leading up to Nationals. After the disappointment of last year, no one was going to stop them this time.

Or so they thought. Mr Schue suppressed a tear at the thought of breaking the news to them.

Then Finn started singing in a voice that would almost make Sue cry:

If you see her, say hello,

She might be in Tangier

She left here last early spring

Is livin' there, I hear

Say for me that I'm all right

Though things get kind of slow

She might think that I've forgotten her

Don't tell her it isn't so

At the same time in New York City, Rachel, who was auditioning for a role in the Queen musical We Will Rock You, started singing:

I want to break free

I want to break free

I want to break free from your lies

You're so self satisfied I don't need you

I've got to break free

God knows, God knows I want to break free.

Finn:

We had a falling-out

Like lovers often will

And to think of how she left that night

It still brings me a chill

And though our separation

It pierced me to the heart

She still lives inside of me

We've never been apart

Rachel:

I've fallen in love

I've fallen in love for the first time

And this time I know it's for real

I've fallen in love, yeah

God knows, God knows I've fallen in love.

Finn:

If you get close to her

Kiss her once for me

I always have respected her

For doin' what she did and gettin' free

Oh, whatever makes her happy

I won't stand in the way

Though the bitter taste still lingers on

From the night I tried to make her stay

Rachel:

But life still goes on

I can't get used to, living without, living without,
