"It hurts too much so I don't want to talk about it"

- Alex Flinn, Beastly

_____

After their brief run in at lunch, Normani had managed to go the rest of the day without trouble. That was until Dance. Half way through the latest routine the principal walked in followed by a police officer. The teacher approached them whilst gossip started to grow. Amongst the class, two girls sat in fear - Normani and Dinah.

Normani had assumed they were here for her, the Cabello's thought of her as Camila's best friend. Perhaps they wanted to know something that she might know. Dinah, on the other hand, was a lot less calm. Her palms grew sweaty and a lump formed in her throat. She knew of her guilt, she wanted to play innocent. But unlike Ally, she wasn't good at acting. Out of the corner of her eye, Normani saw Dinah's fidgeting as the teacher talked with the police officer. Her gaze followed Dinah's to the adults who were now looking at her.

Dinah looked like a rabbit caught in the headlights as the police officer asked her to go with him to the station. Every set of eyes were now on the tall girl being escorted out of the room. Every whisper was about her and what she had done.

After losing a valuable member of the routine the teacher allowed the students to sit and study. Normani raced to her bag to pull out the letter. This had to hold some answers.

Big and Smalls, a lethal combination. Ally was no princess but Dinah is just as bad. I still don't know who the random, as you called then once, on Tumblr is. Nor will I ever. But that doesn't stop me from guessing. And my guess is it is Dinah. You see Lauren and her were talking about it one day and Lauren said something about using it against me. That's when the blog was started but I already know that is run by Lauren. The account that messaged me wasn't the same one. It was different. That leads me to Dinah. Dinah is largely influenced by Lauren, most of her actions stem from Lauren. You'll learn all about Lauren's blackmail skills soon enough but I believe that she has something over Dinah too and that her payment was to target me. You remember how I told you that another rumour was started, that I had been caught staring at you get changed for gym, that was her. All her.

Normani stopped reading once her phone buzzed. She picked it up and looked at the notification, it was from a group chat involving her, Ally, Dinah and Lauren.

Lauren
Why did I just hear from some blonde in my Chem class that Dinah was escorted out by the police?

Normani
It's true they left ten minutes ago

Ally
Bleachers, after school.

Lauren
That bitch better not open her mouth.

Normani locked her phone as she stared at Camila's handwriting. The people she thought she knew weren't really who they said they were. So far Ally has proven to not be a sweetheart and now Dinah was threatening. She knew they got physical sometimes, she had often tried to convince them that the beatings should stop, but she could never have guessed what skeletons they had in their closets.

"Miss Hansen, if you will please for the record state your name and the date" Dinah's hands were clammy, her eyes were watering and her voice was cracking as she said her name and the date. She knew she was done for, there was no way she was still innocent. They knew what she had done.

"Your parents have been called, a representative is on their way. You are not obliged to answer any questions but anything you do say can and will be held against you in a court of law"

The gravity of the whole situation was hitting her. She didn't want to be silent anymore. Camila deserved better, she always had. At the same time, she didn't want to disappoint her family. She couldn't leave them alone.

"I want to make a statement"

The two officers sat and shared a look as they pressed the stop button on the recording. Without a single word, they left the room leaving Dinah alone. It felt like years until they returned with a rather stern looking female, who could only be assumed as her representative.

"I've been informed you'd like to make a statement, you realise anything you say will be used to possibly incriminate you"

Dinah nodded as she looked forward at the two officers. Life behind bars would only be a physical representation of the guilt she carried.

"Then let's start the process officers."
