"Tyler..." I whispered.
"Hello Monica." Tyler said in his sickening voice.
"No..." I whispered, "Get away from me. Get away!" I snatched my wrist out of his ivory hands and ran over to Clayton.
"Princess, what's wrong?" Clayton asked.
"Monica, please talk to me." Tyler begged, a bored tone in his voice.
"NO! YOU STAY AWAY FROM ME!" I yelled and hid behind Clayton.
"Monica..." he took a step forward.
"She said stay away." Clayton clenched his jaw and stepped forward.
"I have no business with you, " Tyler scoffed, "I need to talk to her."
"Come on let's go." Clayton grabbed my wrist and pulled me to the motorcycle.
Tyler grabbed my other wrist and pulled. I whimpered, that hurt. I snatched my hand away from his. Tears started to fall down my face as the memories slammed into me, like a tsunami consuming a city. Clayton got me on the bike and put the helmet on me. He put his on and we were off. Leaving Tyler in the dust. Tyler's face was a mixture of anger and something I couldn't identify. We made it to Clayton's house and he dragged me to his room, slamming the door open and closed again. I sat on his bed and he sat in a spinning chair, at his desk.
"Who was that guy?" he asked as he was clenching and unclenching his fists.
I sighed, "He...he was my.....my..boyfriend." I stuttered out, more tears flooded my eyes.
"Why are you crying?" Clayton's voice became soft and warm.
"Because he brought up bad memories." I answered.
Clayton got up and sat next to me on his bed.
"Do you want to talk about it?" he stared right into my eyes, not afraid to ask.
When he asked more tears flowed down my cheeks. I reluctantly nod my head. I want to tell him. I need too.
" I went to a different high school then this one during freshman year. My anger issues got me kicked out of my last school. But that's a story for another time." Clayton looked a bit shocked but let me continue, "He was my boyfriend. For a while....he was a nice guy. Always waited for me outside of class to carry my books, and after school to walk me home. We dated in freshman year. I thought I was falling for him, and I think I did," I sniffled as more tears came out, my eyebrows scrunched in concentration, "I....I loved him. I fell in love with him. But, I didn't think he loved me back. Soon, he became distant and was barely talking to me. Once I decided it was enough, I....I went to go and find him. Oh I found him alright." I chuckled sadly, "I found him sucking face with Violet in the Janitors closet." more tears fell as I remembered seeing them kissing.
Clayton pulled me into a hug. I didn't even notice, I just clenched his shirt in my fists, soaking it with my pathetic tears.
"Shh, princess. It's okay." Clayton patted my hair down, with calming strokes.
I got out of his shirt to finish the story, "When....when I found them, I called his name. He turned around wide eyed and shocked. My heart shattered into a million pieces, when his face went straight. He walked over to me and said, 'How pathetic. What did you think that I actually liked you? Ha, I was paid to take you out for a while. I guess theirs no trying to stay together with you, so sorry but I am breaking up with you.'" more, fresh tears rolled down my face as those words made me angry.
"And I still remember those words till this day, that's why I put up all these walls. I have a tough exterior so no one could break me, ever again. He broke my heart so badly, that's one of the reason's I turned Carter down. Because Tyler was my actual friend before he asked me out. And I said I would never try and date a friend, ever again. I also still don't like Carter like that though." I finished, my fists clenched as I punched the bed sheets a few times.
