The morning sun burst through my eye lids as they few open. Tiredness rushed over my body because I was up all night, reading the action or magic books I read. Their were 3 birds singing a lovely, or in my opinion, a fork scratching a chalk board, song. They stopped their ratchet song, and I got ready, throwing on jeans from my drawers and a red shirt I found on my floor.
"Another day, another headache." I murmured to myself.
Looking at my flawless tan skin in the mirror, I rubbed lotion on my arms. My golden blonde, waist length hair a rats nest, I pulled into a bun. And my tartar filled teeth, got brushed away. I looked myself in my bright emerald eyes and smiled at my newly white teeth. After the confidence boost in the bathroom, I went to the kitchen. I found my older brother, Dakota, his dirty blonde hair and hazel eyes almost matching my looks. And my younger sister, Melanie, with her golden blonde shoulder length hair and brown eyes, a mix of me and Dakota. Eating breakfast at the table.
"Who made breakfast?" I asked as Dakota gave me a piece of bacon.
"Dad left it. Mom never came home last night and today you have to watch Melanie after school. Dad left after making breakfast and he gave you the car keys to the Chevrolet." Dakota spoke fastly and smoothly, pointing to the keys on the key ring.
"Thanks for the info." I smiled and looked at my sister.
Her glum mood bringing my happy mood down, "What's wrong with her?"
"She's sad that mom never tucked her in, or even said hi." Dakota whispered.
"Dako, you aren't very good at whispering." she sighed.
"I know, Mel. Please try and be happy. For dad." He smiled softly.
"For daddy." she attempted to smile.
I looked between the both of them and smiled again. How hard we all try to be happy and stay positive. My mother cheats on my dad. My dad knows that she cheats, he just keeps her around for Melanie's sake. He's a good dad, really, but is never around because my mom doesn't make any money. Dakota even got a job to help out with groceries. I mostly take care of Melanie and school work. I am near genius level in IQ. I help Dakota and Melanie with their homework. I skipped a grade and now I am a Junior. Checking the time, I find it's 7:34. We needed to get going or we would all be late.
"Alright Melanie, we have to go." I warned.
"Okay." her cute childish tone made me smile.
She got her stuff and I followed. We went to the car and stepped inside. I revved the engine to life and watched as Dakota got into the other car. A silver jeep. Not the off road kind, but the ones you would put your kids in. The garage door opened with a cringe worthy sound, and Dakota was off. In the black Chevrolet, I slowly backed out.
After a fair amount of time, I made it to my sisters elementary school. Watching the 3rd graders walk inside, after the 2nd graders. She opened the door and unbuckled her seat belt.
"Have a good day!" I watched as she smiled and waved.
"Okay, see you after school!" she cheered and ran off, slamming the door in the process.
"Ah, kids." I sighed happily.
My trip to my high school was fairly short, seeing how it was 10 minutes away from the elementary. So, this is how it goes, the elementary was 10 minutes from our house, the middle school was 5 minutes from the elementary school, and the high school is 5 minutes away from the middle school. They are all basically next to each other.
I stepped out of the car and stuffed my keys into my pocket. I grabbed my phone from it's spot in my backpack and checked if I had any notifications. I had 2 missed calls from my mother, from last night, and one text message from my best friend, Silvia. I checked the missed calls, my mom left no voice mails. I then went to my text messages.
