[Name] had rushed home after watching that video, promising Kakashi that she would be right back. There was no way in hell that she was going to miss [D.Name's] first time using the potty. When she unlocked the door and barged inside, she was expecting a giant mess with toys on the floor and markings on the wall, but her house was spotless.
"Hello?" She called, closing the door behind her. Cautiously, she walked towards the bathroom, hoping to see Pein and her kids but no one was there. Her house was deathly still.
She pulled out her phone and dialed Pein's number. In a couple of rings, he answered.
"It's Pein," he says, amusement glinting off of his words. "Do you need something?"
"Where are you! Where are my kids?" She questions, accusations sitting on the tip of her tongue, ready to lash out at him like a whip. "I came to the house and no one's here."
"We went to the park," he says. "It was a nice day outside. You told me to take them somewhere when the sun's out, right?"
The mother sighs, remembering that she did tell him that. It was just that she didn't think he would actually listen.
"Yes I remember. But, your car is still here," she states as she peeks out the window.
"We walked."
"Oh."
"And next we're going to get some frozen yogurt. Want me to get you some?"
"No I'm good," she says. [Name] looks up at the ceiling and smiles. "I can't believe you're actually potty training her."
"Oh right." He chuckles. "I took that video yesterday after I bought the potty chair. I just forgot to send it to you. She hated it at first, so I had to bribe her with cookies."
The mother felt a happiness bubble pop within her. She wanted to squeal and praise Pein for being a dad. Her little baby was growing up! She contained all the pent up excitement into her, though she knew she would explode once she sees her little babies.
"I'll be back soon so you can see them," He says. "Okay?"
"Okay."
...
When Pein arrived [Name] opened the door for him. He was holding a sleeping [D.Name] and [S.Name] clung to his father's other hand.
"Thank you for taking them to the park," she says while picking up her son. She gave [S.Name] a kiss on the cheek and said, "Mommy missed you."
The little boy grinned and told his mom about all the adventures he had with his sister and father. While she was listening to him, she gave light kisses on her daughter's cheek as well.
"Oh oh! And daddy bought me new shoes and toys but we had to donate some of my other toys before I got new ones," [S.Name] babbled on like the animated child he was. "I also helped daddy pick out a pretty purple dress for you, mommy!"
Shocked, [Name's] eyes looked towards Pein as she set her son back down to the floor.
"You, bought me a dress?" She asks, unsure of her words. "Why?"
"It was supposed to be a surprise gift," he says, eyes flickering towards [S.Name] who then laughs sheepishly. "But, yes I bought you a purple dress to match [D.Name's] dress."
"Wait so, you bought two dresses?" The accusations sat eagerly, tingling her tongue with every word she spoke. "How much did you spend?"
"I bought them off of Mikoto's clothing line, so like a few hundred... Each."
He said this while walking away, his arms were about to give out holding his little princess. [Name] chased after him in disbelief.
"You say it like it's no big deal! Clothes should never be that expensive!" She nearly shrieks. Pein shushes her then points to the sleeping child he's still holding. The baby stirs for a moment, but drifts back to sleep.
"Where did you even get the money?" She whispers as she follows him into the baby's room. He sets the sleeping child into her bed. The the mother noticed something was off. "Wait. Where's the crib?"
"Gave it away then bought my little princess a bed," he says, a smile on his face. "My kids deserve the best, and... So do you."
Pein looks back at the shocked mother. A chuckle escaped his lips once he seen her face.
"I also bought you silk sheets and a new mattress. One of those memory foam ones." He walked pass her and into her room. She follows him, and her mouth fell to the floor.
"Pein! You've only been here for about three fucking days! Where did you get all the money to do this?!" She questions, placing her hand to her forehead.
"I'm a debt collector babe, don't you remember?" He winks at her and she rolls her eyes. He's been a debt collector ever since she knew him.
"Riiight? Debt collector. Forgot about that job," she grumbles, sarcasm dripping off of each word. "All I remember is you beating up helpless dudes that owed you money."
"They shouldn't borrow money if they can't pay it back."
"Maybe you shouldn't give money to people you know can't pay it back," she mumbles bitterly under her breath.
She flops down onto her new bed, sighing in pleasure. Her body sank into the cloud that was now her bed — engulfing and shaping to her form.
"Oh this is heaven," her voice came out in a whisper. Her hands glided over the blankets, feeling the soft texture and the gentleness of it. "Are the blankets new too?"
"Yes."
She felt the bed dip down, and she closed her eyes. All of a sudden, drowsiness washed over her, seeping into her skin and slowing down her thoughts. She didn't know if it was because of the pleasant bed or the cuddly blankets, she just felt tired.
Maybe she wouldn't return to Kakashi after all.
