Step 1.)
Open up an 800x600 or 512x800 background, and then drag on the first of your stock.
Step 2.)
Continue to add more stocks. Don't worry about how they look together now, so much as long as they fit together.
Step 3.)
Adding those textures and effects!
Here I went on Pinterest and found some design websites with free grunge textures, and so begin adding those on top.
Step 4.)
Now to bring it all together with some more stock or texture.
But because this blocked too many of my stocks, i added a layer mask and used a black ink brush over it.
Step 5.)
Colouring!
Here I added one of my private PSDs and one posted on my DA (PSD #11 - Eternal Silence) and it worked pretty well!
This isn't actually the best example of the PSD on my textures, so I'll link the pack in the ext.
Step 6.)
To finish just topaz/sharpen/something to it, to really bring it all together.
