Thirteen

Paige leaned against the wall, taking deep breaths trying to calm herself down. She thought that woman was her girlfriend. Her dead girlfriend. It can't have been her. She had been to her funeral, she had grieved for her.

"Hey." Lisa said slowly walking towards her. "You okay?"

Paige just stared at her, not knowing what to say.

Lisa walked closer and placed her hand on Paige's shoulder. "Talk to me, please."

Paige sighed, she began to rub her fingers with her thumb, a nervous habit that Lisa quickly picked up on because she gently grabbed the younger girls hands and held them. "You don't have to be scared, or...Or nervous. You can tell me anything.

"I thought that girl in there...Was...Uh..Was someone I knew."

"Alicia?"

Paige nodded her head as tears formed in her eyes. "But it can't be." She cried.

Lisa quickly pulled her into a tight hug and let her cry.

"Why can't it be her?"

"Because she's dead. I was at her funeral. She can't be here. She just can't."

Lisa felt her heart break for her friend, she could almost feel the pain that Paige had inside of her.

"I miss her so much but if she's alive that means she lied to me and I can't forgive her for putting me through that."

"Shhh." Lisa whispered as she stroked her back. "It'll be okay."

"Lisa...I...Ugh..Can we go see how Lauren's doing?"

That surprised Lisa, she wasn't expecting Paige to suggest that.

"I just want to take my mind off this and when I'm with you I forget all the bad things. You're a good friend Lise."

Lisa's heart stopped at what Paige said and she began to feel things she had never felt for anyone. She had butterflies and once it felt like her heart was beating again, it felt like it was beating at a rapid pace.

"Sure." Lisa said pulling away and giving her friend a small smile. "Let's see how my baby sister is doing."

As they walked into the coffee shop to tell Vivian where they were going, Lisa couldn't deny what was happening. She had read about this in her books and saw it happen in movies and TV Shows.

She was starting to develop feelings for Paige and she was scared....Scared but also happy.
