Paige stood there awkwardly as Lisa began to talk to Lauren. Telling her about what happend, then telling her a story about what they got up to.

Lisa laughed and it was the first time Paige had heard her laugh, and seen her smile.

It made a small smile appear on her own face. Lisa looked up still smiling and her brown eyes met Paige's blue eyes.

"Come say hi." Lisa said waving her hand in a 'come here' motion.

Paige walked over, her eyes moving from Lisa to Lauren and her smile instantly turned into a frown.

"She's gonna be turning seventeen next month."

Paige quickly looked at Lisa and her eyes softened as she realised Lauren had been in the coma since the accident. Lisa didn't have the heart to switch the life support off, Lauren was her only family.

"I know it's cruel to do this to her.." Lisa began choking back a sob. "But she's all I've got. I need her and she needs me."

Paige knelt down and placed her hands on Lisa's shoulders.

"You've got me too. I'm your friend and we'll get through everything together. You want to keep her going? That's great. You're giving her a chance to survive. You want to turn her life support off? That's fine, I'll help you get through all the emotions you'll feel. I'm going to be here for you Lisa." Paige paused as Lisa looked up and sniffled. "You feel sad? Cry on my shoulder. You feel mad? Use me as your punching bag. You feel confused? You tell me what your problem is and I'll help you."

Lisa quickly lunged forward and wrapped her arms around Paige in a tight hug.

"Thank you."

Paige wrapped her arms around Lisa, hugging her back. She felt so happy being the one to help Lisa.

Suddenly, a loud beeping made them jump apart.

Lisa looked at Lauren and quickly stood up to see her moving around, her machines going crazy.

"What's happening?" Lisa asked quickly as nurses and doctors rushed in.

"Get her out please." A nurse said to nobody in particular.

Paige wrapped her arms around Lisa's waist, pulling her out of the room. Lisa tried to fight against her strong grip. Shouting and crying.

They stopped at the waiting area and Lisa turned around, with Paige's arms still around her.

"What if they turn her life support off? I didn't get to say goodbye." Lisa sobbed.

"Pretty sure they can't do that without your permission."

Lisa sniffled again and rested her head on Paige's chest. The younger girl was surprised at this action but gently rubbed small circles on Lisa's lower back as they waited for news on Lauren.

I don't even know anything about this girl but I feel so comfortable with her. Lisa thought to herself. Why?
