[Garrett's P.O.V]
I was losing my mind; I couldn't believe what I was going through my head. It made no frickin' sense, since I did everything I could to keep girls away from me. I wanted to have nothing to do with them, since I always saw girls as nosy, gossiping, and general pains in the ass. It was wrong to generalize, but it was baggage I could not deal with, not as I was at the time. It's true that girls are more emotional than guys, and that was my worry if I tried to involve myself with a girl in any way. On the other hand, Elena wasn't scared of me, and she wanted to be my friend. When Derrick and Jared barged into the café, I was honestly ready to have a full-on brawl, like I usually did. Yet, I did nothing because of her. I held back my own emotions for a Elena. The park debacle was the first time I was stuck in a position like that, and with her, of all people. She was getting so close to me, I almost was unsure how I was supposed to feel. To top off this shitshow, she kissed my cheek. I was gonna go nuts after I left her house. What the fuck was I doing, staying with her?, I asked myself. Life was fine before I met her ... that wasn't entirely true, but at least I had a routine I could mindlessly complete.
The next day at school, I went behind the school where Turk, Carson, and Dylan were. Dylan wasn't there yet, but Turk and Carson were.
"Clint! How come you didn't hang with us in the last two days?" Carson said, sounding a little pissed off.
"Tell us, Clint. We need to know why you bailed."
"It's 'cause of this girl in my English class. A lot happened, so I wasn't able to hang. She was being so goddamn clingy, I couldn't escape."
"See Clint! Nothin' good comes from attendin' classes!" Carson said.
"Whatever, it's not like I forgot about today. Today's our day brawl, right?"
"That's right. Today is also known as beating the fuck out of amateurs!" Turk declared.
"Amateurs?"
"Yeah man! We're takin' on three different gangs, but two of 'em are freshman groups!" Carson said with excitement.
"I see. That's going to be fun, showing the little kids how it's done," I said with a smirk. I was not a sadist, but nothing made me happier than a good fight. It was even more thrilling if I felt like I had competition.
"Uh, Garrett?" Turk said looking a little confused.
"What?"
"Is there a reason you're swearing less? It sounds kinda weird not hearing you say words like 'shit' or 'fuck'."
I was thinking at that moment: oh shit, that's true.
"It's no big deal. Sue me; I fell out of rhythm a little, but it's 'cause of that girl again. Chill the fuck out, it's not like I'm a different person."
"You sounded different man, it's just better that you swear. We can all the shit we want that way." Carson stated, his arms crossed.
"'Cause we don't give a fuck!'" We all said together, all laughing in unison.
"Oh man, that never get's old." Turk said, as he still tried to recollect himself.
"You said it. Since shit's going down, we should warm up a little." I suggested.
"Not a bad idea, Clint. You're like the personal trainer of this group." Carson said with a smirk, stretching his arms.
"Sure. How bout we pick on some freshmen and use them as punching bags?"
"Nah, picking on the freshmen will make us look even worse. Let's raise the bar and take on people our own age." I said, stretching out my legs.
"I like it. Jocks?" Carson asked as he cracked his knuckles.
