[Garrett's P.O.V]
It was the worst night ever. Elena Arrington got on my nerves easily; she was hurt because of that fucked up jerk, Jared Quinn. Last night was just too much. That was the longest time I had ever spent with one girl for one night, which felt like days. I was tired from brawling, and didn't feel like going to the Shack to meet up with everyone else. I just went to my apartment, which coasted the high-end downtown area, and was close to all the houses near my school. My apartment was average, like myself: nothing special. It was messy, and empty. Nobody but me. I reached through a cupboard, and found a carton of cigarettes. I pulled out my lighter, and lit the cigarette when I walked outside to my balcony. Exhaling a puff of smoke, I sighed. I don't enjoy the way she teased and appeared friendly, but it was a lie to say that I hated doing her a favour.
The next day at school, I bailed like I always did. I also went to English class again, like I always did. When I was waiting outside the door, I felt someone tap my back.
"I had no clue you were in my English class!"
"Who in the hell-"
I turned around, and saw Elena Arrington standing right behind me. What the hell? We go to the same school? And she's in the only class I go to?! Naturally, I froze.
"Say, how come I only see you here?"
"This is the only class I come to."
"Why?"
"That's none of your business now, is it?"
"Well ..."
"Exactly." Take that, Elena.
I walked into class, sitting down at the end of the row. I glanced up and saw Elena looking at me, in the third row where her clique of friends were sitting. Stay with your friends, stay with your friends, just please stay with them, I thought to myself. I didn't want this person close to me. She then did the exact opposite of what she should have done; she sat down beside me. Everyone looked at me in disgust. I could hear people say pointless shit like 'Get away from her', or 'What the heck is a guy like him doing with Elena?'. She's the one who sat down beside me people; Calm your shit.
"So, how do you think you did on the last test we had?"
"I dunno, now leave me alone."
"I'm sure you did fine." She completely ignored what I said. 'How annoying' was the only phrase echoing through my head at this point.
"Your legs feelin' better ... ?" I mumbled, purposefully.
"Sorry?"
"Your legs."
"Oh. Yeah, they're better, thanks for asking." She said, brightly smiling at me. Her legs were covered by flared jeans, which she probably wore to ventilate the minor wounds. I gotta to say ... for a second, that smile looked forced.
"All right class, settle down! We're going to start reading Macbeth! First, I'll be handing back your tests from yesterday!" said my teacher, Mr. Hilden. He handed back our tests, starting off with me.
"You got a hundred! That's amazing." Elena noted.
"Yeah, whatever. You got a hundred too." I said pointing to the sheet on her desk.
"Oh, wow."
"What now?"
"We got the same mark." She said excitedly. I desperately needed someone to get her away from me.
"So?"
"Maybe it was fate."
"What?"
She then began to whisper. "Us meeting in the alley, finding out the next day that we have this class together, and both getting one hundred ..." She is going to make me go nuts, I swear.
