The Story of Yang

Prologue: The Dragon Sage

 Long ago, a man named Grimora, who came from another realm introduced a unique ability. This ability was called "Aura." There were five elements of aura: wind, water, earth, fire, and lightning. But there were two legendary types that only a chosen few could obtain: light and darkness. Everyone had an aura that could be unlocked from increasing one's body and mind past human limitations. Once one obtained their aura, they could use it to invent and learn many powers such as energy and astral projections. He then dubbed a human as "The Sage" who then passed down Aura and the sage title for generations to come.

Our tale begins with three young children training, only one of them can become the Sage but they have agreed that no matter who comes on top, they shall remain friends forever. The name of these kids, who are fifteen years of age, are Draco, Kaito, and Hebi. Draco is a young boy with bleach blonde hair and an excited smile. Hebi is a sickly pale boy with a devilish smile, and Kaito is a blonde girl with a gentle smile.

"I will be be the next Sage," shouted Hebi, furiously. "Yeah, right. I'm the strongest and smartest," rebuked Kaito. While Kaito and Hebi were arguing, Draco was taking a nap and they both agreed that he would not be able to become the Sage.

An elderly man approached them, he had a beard and all of his hair has turned grey and he used a cane to walk. This is the current Sage. As soon as the children caught a glimpse of him, they went back to training, except for Draco who was still asleep.

The Sage called out to him a couple times before he woke up from his state of sleep.

The Sage hit him on top of the head. Draco winced in pain and went back to training with the other students. The Sage was always harshest towards Draco because he never trains and on missions he drags the team behind. At that rate, Draco would never become a Sage.

Later that night, Draco was sitting by the lake skipping stones. After several stones that were skipped, the Sage came to him. The Sage sat next to the aggravated boy who then turned away from him.

"Are you mad at me?"

"Yes."

"Because I hit you?"

"Yes."

"Do you know why I did that?"

"No."

"You're always slacking off, you have a lot of potential and I want to help you use it."

Draco just grew more irritated with his master and yelled, "I don't care!" He then walked off. Draco felt like he was only bringing his team down. He started thinking about leaving the team.

The next day, Hebi and Kaito were training with the Sage while Draco was nowhere to be found. While the Sage and Hebi were only thinking that Draco was slacking off again, Kaito grew worried. So she asked, "Sensei, may I take a break?" He replied, "Of course," and she bowed then ran off.

She ran to the lake where Draco always spent his time, but today he was not there. She wondered where he could be. Eventually, after a half hour of searching, she found him resting by the apple tree. "So he was slacking off," she thought to herself. She began to approach but as she got closer, she realized he was awake and crying. She decided to get closer, he realized her presence quickly and jumped, wiping the tears from his eyes.

"Draco, are you okay?"

"Of course! A sage doesn't cry!"

"Be honest, we are friends after all."

Draco paused for a moment, then answered, "I'm starting to think I'll never become the next sage."

"Well, if you wanna become the next sage so badly, then let's make a bet."
