CHAPTER 4
Heather~
The wave is huge. It sweeps us away. Luke grabs my hand. I scream, but it is unheard above the sound of the roaring waves. My curly red hair whips all around and I am pulled underwater like its quicksand. Luke's grasp slips away from mine. Suddenly I just need my mom again. I need her here to tell me that everything will be ok, even if it's not. Away I drift. Seconds. Minutes. Hours. Days. I have lost track. I float on my back I hear a small voice in the distance. It is like a whisper. "Heather." I wade over to the voice. I want to curl up in a ball and give up. The current drags me down. I can't take it. My only motivation is the voice ahead of me. I fall. I get back up. I fight the current until I black out.
