The obnoxious ringing of the alarm clock kept going off in my head until we started saying our goodbyes and going to pick everyone else up. I'm so excited to drive in his moms 1970's Volkswagen. She inherited it from her dad when he died. He used to work in a autoshop so he kept it up to date.

I hopped in the front seat with our backpacks placing them by my feet after hugging his family goodbye. Chris opened the back and placed our sleeping bags down, hugged his parents one more time and got in the driver's seat and started the car. We waved goodbye as we drove off.

I watched them through the rear view mirror, his father's arm around his mom and sister. His mom's head nestled against his arm. A different facial expression, both proud and bummed finally realizing her son is growing up. His dad was smiling tilting his head slightly, proud dad. His sister waving and smiling, probably jealous but still excited for us.

His family watched us drive off until we could no longer see each other.

We first headed to Chase's house, it was closer.

Chase and Emily came jogging out the door as we pulled up.
