So not far from where I live there's this old town called Jefferson.
I actually think I've mentioned it before, but just in case I haven't let me fill you in.
It's an old river-port town that was actually a commercial hotspot back in the 19th century and was also a very valuable and strategic asset during the civil war due to it's being a river port that also had a railroad. Two vitally important things to have goin' for you back then. Oh, and there was a munitions factory there.
Anyway, the reason I'm bringing this up is because they have this restaurant that's been open since 1866 called "Annie Skinners."
And oh my goodness, they serve what can only be described as the King of all Sandwiches...
I present to you...the Muffaletta (feat. My left hand.)
It looks smaller on camera, but dudes this thing is massive!
Let me put it into perspective for y'all.
My hand is about 7.5 inches long.
One of those pieces is about .25 inches shorter than my hand.
And there's four pieces...so yeah.
Now for the contents of this culinary behemoth.
A Fresh New Orleans muffaletta bun.
3 kinds of meat: Ham, Salami, and Pastrami.
Provolone cheese
A mix of diced green and black olives.
And a homemade oil spread.
It's sooooo good y'all.
It's definitely a must try if y'all ever find yourself in the area.
And before anyone asks, no I did not eat that whole thing by myself.
I ate 3/4 of one piece and felt like I was gonna explode XD.
At least I don't have to worry about making lunch for the rest of the week/weekend 😃.
