Calla:
My intention to have fun turned sour very quickly. It was getting later and I was on my second drink. The fuzzy feeling in my head was something I wasn't used to, so I decided that I wasn't going to have another just in case. The music had been turned up and people were dancing now. Jumping around like crazy children. Mitchie was standing beside me observing the party goers. We had just stopped jumping around ourselves, giggling and being stupid. I was still smiling.
"Hey," Mitchie shouted in my ear, trying to be heard over the music. "I'm going to go and find Sam okay? I'll be right back?"
I just nodded and smiled, still trying to catch my breath. I watched her disappear between the sweaty teenage bodies and leaned back against the wall taking another tentative sip of my drink, before putting it down on the window sill beside me.
I was just starting to wonder where Phoebe had disappeared to when I felt someone standing beside me, and I turned just in time to catch a glimpse of his face before he pushed me against the wall and grabbed my waist forcefully.
"How's it going babe?" Daniel's gruff voice sounded in my ear.
I felt his arm above my head and his other hand move lower past my waist and squeeze.
"Daniel, get off!" He reeked of alcohol and as I tied to push him away, his hand tightened. Fear griped my heart as I struggled to get him off me.
"Daniel!" I shouted, pushing on his chest. I felt my breathing constrict as I started to panic; he was too heavy. He moved his hand from below my waist and grabbed my face between his thumb and fingers, turning my face towards him.
"Give us a kiss," he said, obviously not noticing my discomfort. Or just ignoring it.
I tried to pull away from him but he was too strong. He was hurting me.
And then, all of a sudden, he was gone. And my heart was beating so fast I couldn't breathe. Mitchie was beside me in a flash, her arm around my shoulders and was shouting someone's name. I looked up and for the first time noticed Tyson standing there looking at me concern written all over his face. "Are you okay?"
The words sounded a mile off. I just nodded shivering. And suddenly there was fighting and Daniel tried to hit Tyson, and Sam was there and people were chanting but I wasn't watching. I was shivering and Mitchie was talking in my ear, leading me back into the kitchen.
"You're alright. Jesus it was lucky he was there. I'm so glad I convinced Sam to invite him." I could hear Mitchie speaking under her breath as I realised we were alone in the quiet kitchen.
I took a deep breath and tried to think. I was fine. Nothing happened. Tyson saved me. Deep breath. I looked back at Mitchie and I knew she was about to explode, so I just smiled.
