"Wanna go over by the fence?" Lyn-Z asks me before anyone's awake.

"What? Sure," I drag myself out of the one blanket I've been sleeping on.

The sun is barely coming out. I don't think I've ever been up this early before.

The wind whips at my face.

"So why are we here?" I ask once we're at the fence.

"I thought somebody would come. There has to be more people in there like us."

"Like us?"

"People who know that this isn't right," she points at the city.

"Wow, we're getting deep now?"

"Come on, why didn't you take the pills?"

"They made me feel all numb. I don't really like that."

"There has to be more," she mutters.

***

We wake up to somebody tapping our faces.

"Are you dead?" they keep saying.

"I think they are."

"No, they're just sleeping!"

"What!" I shout trying to wake up, "Who are you?"

Lyn-Z wakes up too.

The two kids look at us excitedly.

"I'm Brody," a girl with short black hair says.

"And I'm Sam," he smiles, "You're MSI!"

"We're half of MSI," I explain.

"See Jimmy, I told you there were more!" Lyn-Z says excitedly.

"More what?" Brody asks.

"More people who don't take pills."

"We were the only two with enough guts to look for you. We've got friends back there who don't like the pills either you know."

"Well, you should probably be heading back before we get charged for kidnapping or anything stupid like that," Lyn-Z tells them.

"Is it okay of we come on Saturday?" Brody asks.

"Sure."

"We'll see you then!" they crawl back under the fence.

"Isn't this exciting?" Lyn-Z says when we get back, "we could take them to a concert and then to a fight club."

"The first rule of fight club is you do not talk about fight club," I recite.

"Fight club is about teaching people to deal with their shit. It's fine bringing them. Because once you know that you can punch the daylights out of a man you can do anything else."

"Okay. Just know that Saturday is tomorrow."

"Tomorrow?"

"Yup," I disappear into her room to watch more Adventure Time.

"It's Saturday!" Lyn-Z's waking everyone up.

"The concerts not until nighttime," Steve says rolling over.

"But I have visitors!"

"Go get them," I yell through the door, "let us sleep!"

"I'll be back soon!" she says slamming the front door behind her.

Brody, Sam, and Lyn-Z come clambering up the steps about half an hour later.

In that half hour I made more coffee.

"We've been expecting you," I say creepily through sips of coffee.

They stare at everything as Lyn-Z shows them around.

What's this?

What's that?

I swear I did not ask that many questions.

"What is that?" Brody asks pointing at my coffee cup.

"This?" I point dramatically at my cup, "You want to know what this is?"

She nods.

"This is a...it's a cup."

"No the stuff in it."

"Oh, that's a simple concoction of boiled water, sugar," I take a sip, "and...coffee."

"Coffee," she repeats, "can I have some?"

"Can you serve yourself some?" I point at the pot on the ground, "there's cups in that cabinet."

Brody's eyes widen when she tastes it. She gives some to Sam.

"This is the best thing I've ever tasted," she says sitting down next to me.

"It's fabulous isn't it? And you know what the best part is?"

"What?"

"The caffeine."

"Caffeine?"

"Yup, you're going to need it for the concert."
