Brianna's POV

I sat at my usual table in Divination with Avery. She'd been talking a lot more which made me happy. I wanted to pay more attention to her that day instead of just talking about my relationship with Fred, who kept trying to get my attention throughout class and sending sweet smiles my way.

At lunch Avery and I got to gossip about random things. Like who's dating who and who snuck puking pastels into Professor Snape's drink that morning(it was Fred and George of course on the account of the little lion on my wrist wriggling earlier that day more than usual). I considered bringing up how Dean might be cheating on Jo but I figured I should keep that a secret for now.
"So how did the thing with Dumbledore go?" I asked very carefully trying not to make such a big deal out of such a touchy subject. It didn't really seem to bother her though.
"Better than I thought actually. Dumbledore was really helpful and I'm suppose to see him again tonight."
"What are you gonna do there?"
"He's suppose to help teach me to control it." She cringed slightly at the last word. I nodded my head in understanding and went back to eating. Avery abruptly started talking again out of nowhere sounding excited.
"So, um..." She was blushing for some reason,"I kissed Pj." Her face was extremely pink and smiley.
"What?" I asked much louder than I had intended but I couldn't help myself.
"Or he kissed me, or we kissed each other- hell I don't know but we kissed!"
"What the fuck? I didn't know you liked him! I thought you were like acquaintances or something!" I knew they talked every once in awhile but I guess I had no clue just how close they were.
"We've kinda been close for years, I just never really said too much to you about him."
"Yeah no shit, that would've been nice to know," I playfully shoved her shoulder. Maybe a little too hard.
"Ow! Sorry I guess I should've said something," she laughed.

That night Fred and I sat outside on a bench viewing the fountain. It was a bit chilly but I didn't mind. Fred's hands were warm.
"Nice job about the puking pastel today."
"How'd you know it was me?"
I gave him the really? face and pointed to the lion charm on the bracelet.
"Oh right." He remembered.
"I didn't think they dissolved in water, wouldn't Snape have noticed if it was just floating about in his cup?" I asked very curiously. I knew he'd have a clever answer. He and his brother always found a way to make the impossible seem possible.
"We ground it up into little flakes we sprinkled into it. Brilliant isn't it?"
"Bloody brilliant," I agreed. We sat in a comfortable silence for a while until Fred pulled out his wand. I didn't ask what he was doing, I just frowned and waited to see what he was up to. He aimed his wand at the fountain that had water cascading out of it and said,
"Aguamenti cantium." The water stopped moving and only continued to move when Fred made it. He tested it out a bit by moving it left to right a few times. I kept looking in amazement between him and the water. The wand shaped charm on my bracelet moved around whenever one of us used magic. It danced playfully as he continued to play with the water. He tried a swirl which spiraled perfectly with the circular motion he was performing with his wrist. He then started to form shapes with it. A wand, a serpent, a lion, then of course, a rose. When he put down his wand the fountain resumed it regular flow.
"That was awesome." I told him.
"Yeah, I love any magic having to do with the elements. Water is my favorite one to experiment with." He told me.
"I like fire." I said very bluntly. He looked at me funny and I soon realized I had sounded very creepy saying that.
"Oh my god that sounded so creepy, I'm sorry. I just meant as far as the elements go, I think fire is fun to control."
"Oh okay that sounds better." He laughed it off. I got out my wand and pointed to the fountain.
"Incendio," I said calmly. A layer of flames now danced upon the top of the water which pooled at the bottom of the fountain. I moved my arm in an arcing motion and a long orange flame traced an arc above the fountain and reconnected at the bottom. Fred watched with his mouth wide open. His awed expression quickly turned into a smile and I saw the bright orange glow reflected in his big brown eyes. He looked at me almost lovingly but only for a short while because he quickly returned his gaze to the fountain and got his wand back out with a determined and kind of competitive look. He repeated his water incantation and we swirled the elements around each other and basically made them battle. It was really fun. Unfortunately our fun was cut short when clicking footsteps came our way.
"Mr. Weasley, Miss Wallace."
Our happy expressions dropped as did our wands and the water from the fountain. It returned to it's normal flow and my fire puffed into black smoke that faded into the air. We turned our heads toward Mrs. McGonagall.
"It is well past curfew, and as good as that magic was I'm afraid I must advise you to head to your dormitories now."
"Yes, professor," Fred and I said simultaneously. As we walked past her back into the castle, Fred said to her,
"We were only practicing."
"Onward," she said in an annoyed tone and gave him and extra little push on his back to keep him walking. She acted like she was mad at him but we all knew she enjoyed his quirkiness along with the rest of the Weasley siblings.

That night after everyone else went to bed, I stayed in the common room awaiting Jo's arrival because she still wasn't there yet. I figured she was probably with Dean. When she did enter the room, she stormed in with tears soaking her face and her hands grabbing fistfuls of her hair in anger.
"Woah, woah what happened? Dean?"
"He's gay the motherfucker is gay!" She screamed. I didn't want people to wake up and leave their beds so I tried to shush her.
"Shh shh quiet," I placed a finger over my lips,"did u say gay?" I tried so hard not to laugh.
"Yeah! Turns out he was cheating on me. With a dude!" She angrily threw her hands all about when she talked. I laughed to myself in my head because cocky cool and manly Dean Winchester turned out to be gay. I pushed back my personal dark humor and returned to Jo.
"Hang on which guy?" I questioned.
"Castiel Novak stupid Ravenclaw." She answered wiping her face with her sleeve. I thought of Avery and how since Castiel was a Ravenclaw like her I could ask her about him.
"Okay okay well don't be mad at him because he's gay. Coming out is probably hard by itself. However, you are probably entitled to be mad about him lying. If he wanted to date a guy he should've broken up with you first."
"Yeah, he should've. Fucking asshole. I'm telling everyone he likes dick." She said. Again, I had to hold back laughter so I could help my friend.
"Don't do that. You know you shouldn't. You and Cas are probably the only ones that know right?" Jo said nothing but nodded. I think she was finally calming down. I continued,
"So, maybe you should talk to him about it, he'll apologize, then he'll come out to everyone else when he's ready to. Sound good?"
Jo said nothing at first but then eventually nodded.
"Okay. Let's go to bed and you can talk to Dean in the morning." As we walked to the girls' dormitory she warned me that if I gossiped to anyone she'd kill me. So obviously I agreed not to tell because I didn't really feel like dying. Especially when things between me and Fred were going so well.
