*Kenya*
We all sat around Peyton, fanning her and trying to cool her off.
She finally started moving. Her eyes remained closed as her face put on a confused expression. "Wh...what..." She started to murmur as if in a dream, and her eyes slowly opened. She quickly tried to sit up,but we forced her back down.
"What happened? Where are we?" She asked. I continued to fan her.
"We escaped from crazy man and we were running and you got a bad cut on your leg, probably from a branch, and when we continued you fainted. We can't go further. You're too weak. We have to camp out right here." Penny said, looking at me.
I nodded understandingly. "I'll go try and find some berries or nuts of some sort. In the meantime, keep her under shade and Peyton, stop trying to move." I said, standing up. They nodded.
I turned and walked the opposite way out, thinking of a plan. It was a really stupid idea to run away. We have no map,no food,no shelter,no money, no one to help.
I am the oldest and it's my job to care after my sisters, but it seems as if this is too much to bear. I miss the mansion, the boys, the endless food. My stomach grumbled just thinking about the breakfast Penny and I used to make everyday.
I smiled to myself, letting my brain fill with memories. If only there was a way to contact them,to let them know we need help.
I found a small bush of berries by a tree, and I stopped to examine it.
I had no idea of telling whether berries were poisonous or not. I never took a class on it. This bush was full of small, round reddish purple berries. I picked a few and sniffed them. No suspicions there. I squished one, staining my hand red. I sniffed again. I had no idea whether it was safe or not. I decided to leave them, though. Better safe than sorry.
I managed to get a few acorns hanging from trees and buried in small openings in trees. They didn't seem appetizing at all,but it'll have to do. I wasn't even hungry anymore, looking at the things.
I walked back towards where we were going to camp out at,my hand full of acorns. I saw Penny fanning Peyton still, who was now sitting up and leaning against a tree, her breathing slow.
"I found some water down there.." Amaya said, pointing to her left. "It was nasty, but it at least dampened my tongue."
"I'm sure that isn't safe,but I guess." I said,then held out the acorns.
"Dinner.." I said,looking down.
"You think i'm going to eat that?" Amaya said, looking at me as if I were crazy.
"Seriously. I ain't no squirrel." Penny added.
Peyton shook her head no,frowning up a bit.
I shrugged. "Suit yourself." I threw the acorns to the side and looked at them.
"So what now?" Asked Peyton.
"I have no idea. We have to keep going though, when you're well enough. We cant stay in these woods forever." I said, looking around.
"We'd better put a move on it quick, too. I bet crazy man and his crew are out searching everywhere by now." Amaya said. I nodded. "If he finds us,we're good as dead." I added.
"Well,it's getting late. We'd better get some sleep." Penny said. She leaned up against a tree.
"Yea. Lets get some rest so we can be up and ready in the morning.." I said, leaning my head back against a tree.
We all went to sleep, getting bites from bugs and all. The crickets chirped loudly, and a breeze blew by. I'd rather have been on that old,run down mattress, chained down to the floor....
