After saying goodbye to Josh, Tyler started his walk home.
As he was turning the corner, he saw a truck pull into Josh's driveway. His eyebrows knitted together in confusion as a large man stepped out of the vehicle.
Josh said his dad would be gone all week.
He shrugged and turned back to the sidewalk, humming to himself as he put in his earbuds.
..
When he got home, Tyler walked straight to the fridge to get some water.
As he opened the door, he heard footsteps coming towards him. Tyler's eyes widened in fear as he saw a tall shadow take over the kitchen light.
"D-dad, I'm sorry, I- I thought you were still at work.."
His father stared at him with a blank expression. "You gonna pay for that water or just feed off of me like a leech?"
Tyler mumbled an apology and reached into his pocket for money.
"No dumbass! Haven't you ever heard of a joke?"
He froze. "Yes sir. Sorry sir."
His dad grumbled and walked away. "Now get the hell out of my kitchen!"
Tyler kept his head down as he walked away and up the stairs.
When he got to his room he put his earbuds back in and locked the door, jumping onto his bed and opening his journal.
Tyler wrote until his hand went numb, finally closing the journal and taking a sip of his water before he fell asleep.
A/N:
Tyler and Josh's parents in this story aren't based on their parents in real life, I just love angst :')
