I think there are two kinds of

forgiveness,

the kind that when you forgive

you're also giving them another

chance,

or the kind where you forgive,

but move on without them -

use them both wisely.

It had been a long day, and it was almost 5pm. Meredith had been assigned on Dr. Beauregard's service but all that was currently scheduled were checkups and routine things.
She was bored, and things between the pair were kinda awkward, reasonably so.

"All these pregnant ladies are annoying" Meredith complained, as she met up with Alex, April and Cristina. April sighed while Alex rolled her eyes.
"Hunts being annoying" Cristina sighed.
"How's it going with Beauregard? Any tension?" Alex asked.
"Honestly, no. I mean, we just don't talk about that stuff. It's purely patient related, or just like normal stuff like the weather" Meredith responded, shrugging her shoulders.
"Yea, she's nothing like Addison who was always everywhere and always wanted to talk about emotions" Cristina reminded.
"I actually kinda like her. I mean, she's not being attached at his hip and I almost never see them together. That's definitely not his style to not be lovey dovey so it must be her idea" Alex said, and they all nodded.
"She's also the best in the world. I mean, come on....sorry Mer but you can't really blame him." Cristina said. Meredith nodded.
"I know" Meredith said.
"Weren't they dating in high school? So technically Beauregard and Shepperd were a thing before you two, and Addison even?" April asked. Meredith just nodded sighing.
"I'm just gonna give her being her friend a try." She stated."I'll try being better I guess"
"That a girl, mer!" Alex said, as he lightly patted her shoulder before both of their pagers went off.

"Hi Dr. Grey, you paged?" Dr. Beauregard asked, as she got to in patient floor and found Dr. Grey. Dr. Grey nodded, and led her to the couple quickly.

"Oh hello, how are we doing today? I'm Dr. Beauregard" she asked kindly to the couple as she looked at the couple and the stats Dr. Grey handed her.
"Hi, she's extremely nauseous, sweating, high fever, high blood pressure and I'm worried about the baby" the husband said, cautiously as he watched anxiously as his wife was slightly shaking. Dr. Beauregard nodded, and did some preliminary tests.
"Okay, well it looks like we're going to do some blood work and take you to a room. Just try to be calm for the baby. The high blood pressure could be nerves, just try to stay calm" She said, smiling at the couple, before stepping out to talk to Meredith.
"Okay, run a full blood work on her. Then we'll see if she needs a cat scan. As soon as you get that, page me. Start thinking of what could be wrong. We're supposed to let you learn as much as you can here right? Don't fail me" Dr. Beauregard said, sweetly with a touch of force. Meredith just nodded. After smiling back, Dr. Beauregard turned to go see other patients.

Neither was going to lie and say the experience wouldn't be awkward, but for right now they had a patient.

"How's Hunt?" Meredith asked Cristina, as they waited for labs back on their patients.
"Ehh fine. How's Beauregard?" She replied. Meredith just shrugged.
"Fine, it's a bit awkward but we're working fine" she explained.
"Drinks tonight with Callie and Arizona? I need one" Cristina said, and Meredith nodded.
"Sounds perfect" she replied, and ran off when she after reading the labs for the pregnancy case.

"Just got an updated test report. Could it be hyperthyroidism?" Dr. Grey asked, as Dr. Beauregard arrived moments later at the room. Dr. Beauregard nodded, and then went inside.
"Hi Mrs.  and Mr. Fraten, unfortunately, you seem to be developing what we call hyperthyroidism, and it may soon be a thyroid storm if we don't treat it. If you were not pregnant, we would be treating you with radioactive iodine. But, now this needs immediate surgery of the thyroid" she said, as she watched both the faces of the couple trying not to panic.
"But the baby?" Mr.Fraten asked nervously, holding his wife's hand, as nurses came in to prep for surgery.
"Will be fine. Now I will see you down there" Dr. Beauregard said as she ran off to get ready. Dr. Grey stayed  with the couple prepping.

"Is everything going to be ok? Is she a good doctor? I didn't even have time to check" Mr. Fraten asked nervously.
"Dr. Beauregard is the best obstetrics and neonatal surgeon in the world. She just transferred her a few months ago. You came to a good place. Your baby's in the best hands" Meredith said, trying to please the couple. She watched as the couple looked to each other lovingly and with so much love.

A bunch of people were watching from the gallery as Dr. Beauregard and Dr. Grey went into surgery together. Dr. Beauregard let Dr. Grey do as much as she could, and to outsiders it was an amazing view. So different compared to Addison.
"Wow who would've thought?" Jackson said, as he watched with Mark. He nodded in response, watching the pair work.

Not only was this a difficult and testing procedure, but Dr. Beauregard seemed to have a natural tendency to be extremely calm, which was transferring onto Meredith. If anything, that's what she would be learning the most from her.

"Okay, Dr. Grey, if you could pass me...oh perfect. Thank you" dr. Beauregard said, as Meredith handed her the knife she believed she wanted.
"Would you like to close up?" Dr. Beauregard offered, handing Dr. Grey the respective instruments.
"Of course, thank you" Dr. Grey said, as she began to close up. Dr. Beauregard stood and watched till everything finished and they were both able to scrub out.

"Hey so a bunch of us are probably going to Callie's and Arizonas tonight for drinks  if you would like to come?" Meredith offered, nervously as they were taking off gloves and washing.
"Oh that sounds great. I'd love to" Sapphire replied, smiling slightly. "When?"
"Right after this, actually" Meredith said looking at her phone.
"Okay well lets go tell the husband the good news and post op and then we can go?" Sapphire suggested, and nodded.

And just like that, the pair became closer.
