Remember this is a fictional story! We're skipping straight to Midnight Memories, no awkward fetus stage for our boys in this story! Also, they are going to be a band, rather than a boyband (you know with instruments and such? Yeah).

Half a Heart is the song, play it and sing along!

*Marcel's pov*

"Welcome to your very first band practice! One Direction is a go!" I began to clap and all of the boys followed with various screams and cheers that echoed in the large room. Thankfully, nobody in this school uses the auditorium, so we were easily able to sign it out for practice.

I took my clipboard out of my briefcase and sifted through the organized sheets.

"Okay so we've got Niall on guitar, Louis on drums, and our three lead singers..." I trailed off when I noticed that the trio was actually only a duo,"Where is Zayn?"

I turned towards the double doors when I heard them slam shut.

"Here. I'm right here." He strolled in slowly, clearly unconcerned with his lateness.

Although I will admit that he looked great in all black, a nirvana band tee and tattered skinny jeans, and his dark hair gelled back...Where was I going with this?

He finally made his way onto the stage and sent me a wink when he noticed me staring.

I blushed and turned away as flashes of the night we spent together came into my head. They have been becoming more clear with each day.

Even though I still felt a little tingle in my heart and my member, I have to put that behind me. I was where I belonged now with my beautiful boyfriend Louis.

I looked over to his already waiting eyes. His smile was so wide it took up half of his face, as he twirled a drumstick in his hand. He was so cute.

Harry whispered something that I would guess was really funny, causing his laugh to mix with Niall's loud one and bellow across the stage.

Zayn set up his microphone stand next to Harry's, and Liam's was on the other side. They really did look like a real band...

I clapped my hands together to get their attention,"Everybody knows their lyrics?" They all nodded excitedly,"And Niall, Zayn, and Louis, you guys know your music?"

"We sure do, babe!" Louis called from his stool. I smiled at him, but quickly looked down guiltily as Zayn grimaced.

I inspected each boy's equipment one last time and realized something was missing. I ran down the stage steps and collected the black box with band stickers plastered over it. I grabbed the instrument from inside and made my way back on stage.

"Are you okay?" I whispered to Zayn as I handed him his base guitar.

"I'm just dandy, babe." He flashed a fake smile and took his instrument roughly.

That was weird, I muttered to myself as I walked to my seat in the middle row in the auditorium. I told them to wait as I just took in everything.

Lou looked at home behind his colorful drum set, Niall couldn't wait to strum his guitar, Zayn looked solemn but in a punk-rock way, Liam and Harry were the only ones without instruments but their voices truly made up for that. Plus, in other songs Liam played the piano and Harry took up the acoustic guitar so that Ni could play the electric one.

Niall asked if I was ready, so I sent them a thumbs up. He began strumming the guitar gently as Liam sang.

"So your friend's been telling me
