Compilation of short stories

Notebook.

The sky was clear and the air comfortable. The sun was up and warmed my back as I walked. It was a beautiful day, a perfect day for a walk in the park. As I was walking I looked around, taking in the environment. The trees proudly waving in the wind, birds friendly tweeting to one another, families picnicking in the grass and lots of strollers.

My eyes wandered to the benches. There wasn't anyone sitting on them. Apart from a single notebook all three of them were empty. I walked past the benches and notebook on top of one of them. It was black. I stopped. It had looked grey because of the light, but it was actually black. I stepped back a couple of steps so I stood beside it again. One lonely black notebook laying on a bench, enjoying the warmth of the sun.

What was it doing here?

I looked around me to see if someone was looking at me, but there wasn't anyone really. Everyone was enjoying this beautiful day the same as they had been doing moments before. I sat down next to the notebook. I took one more brief glance to the left and right before finally picking it up.

Black. A5 format. Hard cover. Time to open it.

I opened it. Looked at the first page.

Okay.

Time to close it. I put it back beside me.

Right now the owner of this notebook is somewhere, either really laughing their head off or seriously dying from shame over losing this notebook.

I picked it up once more and skipped through all the pages. After I was finished I put it back on the bench again and stood up to continue my walk.

I smiled to myself.

There really are some strange people in this world.
