If there was one thing PANZER was good at, it was getting in and out clean without any enemies finding them. The unit loaded their favored weapons onto a specialized pave-low helicopter. "Careful with my gun Alex. If you scratch my SAW, then I'm gonna scratch you." Tom yelled across the hanger in a jokingly yet serious manner.
Alex laughed and set Tom's custom M249 SAW on a holding rack in the chopper. Tom loved that gun more than anything he had before. He put on a custom holo-sight and ACOG hybrid optic, a folding grip, fixed bi-pod, integrated suppressor, and his personal favorite attachment; the ability to shoot incendiary, explosive, and standard rounds without changing barrels or internals.
Sargent Alex Van, Tom's best friend, had his own custom M60 with fixed grip, folding bi-pod, suppressor, the ability to change ammo types, and his personal favorite, an ACOG night vision hybrid scope.
"You boys and your toys." Sargent Ella Jackson, the team's medic and Tom's crush, laughed as she passed by with her standard issue LSAT.
Tom blushed as his eyes met hers and she passed him. He loved the way she sauntered away from him when she made a silly joke.
"You're drooling again captain." Corporal Mark Johnson, the team sniper, laughed as he placed his 12 times zoom scope on his gillie wrapped M21 rifle with suppressor.
"Shut up corporal. Get your gear on the chopper. We're hot in 15."
The team finished loading their gear into the helicopter and strapped into their seats. "Ok." Tom called to the pilots over the radio. "All PANZERs on board. We're good to go."
The blades of the pave-low slowly spun up and the heavy mechanical machine began hovering before moving forward, then up.
The ride to the drop zone was quiet other than the sound of loading guns and gear powering up. "Team, eyes up." A blue hologram took place in the center of the chopper.
"The chopper will stop here and we will rope out. We'll drop in with low power mode on the suits to avoid detection. Johnson, take sniper watch in this tower here." Tom touched the map and a red orb appeared where Johnson was to provide over watch. "The rest of us will move to the village to secure the civilians for extraction. Primary extraction here, secondary here on the mountain side."
Several more red orbs appeared where he touched. He looked up at the team.
"Any questions?"
The chopper remained silent.
"Good." Tom put his helmet on and powered his suit down to avoid detection along with his team mates.
He turned back to them with his gun in his hands. They stood ready with him as he spoke. " Who are we?" He shouted
"PANZER!" the team shouted. It was a ritual they did every time before a mission to pump themselves up.
"Do we fail?"
"No!"
"What do we do?"
"Complete the mission!"
The back hatch on the helicopter opened as Tom threw a rope down. "I want boots on the ground, now! Remember. Complete the mission. Failure is not a PANZER protocol!"
Tom grasped the rope and slid down with his unit as he readied his gun at the tree line.
"Lets do this!"
