CHAPTER 6: Get 'Em Outta Here

"How far is this place sir?" Ella questioned.

"About another 300 meters." Tom replied

Stealthily, the team moved towards the target building. "I have eyes on the target building." Tom whispered.

The team moved around to the side of the building and spotted a side door.

"Alex, switch to thermal. What do you see?" Tom commanded.

Alex switched between the different vision settings until he came upon the back and white imaging of thermal.

"I've got two by the door, and looks like at lease one on the other side of the door. Walls are too thick to be able to see anything past that." Alex informed the rest of the team.

"Johnson, you see 'em?" Tom asked.

"Copy. I'll take them." Johnson replied.

2 short suppressed shots pinged into the darkness and two bodies fell to the ground. A third person peaked their head outside the door and was dropped to the ground with the door shutting behind them.

"Move up." Tom commanded 

There were 3 entrances, the team split up and surrounded each door.

"Ready?" Tom asked

The team confirmed as they placed breaching charges on the metal entrance.

"Don't give them a chance to go for their guns. If you have a shot, you take it." Tom said to his team.

The team confirmed one last time that they were ready. 

"Alright, kick 'em!"

There was a brief moment of silence, then a click, a beep, and a deafening blast. The doors flew inward and crashed in the center of the room as the team swept in. One by one they took down hostile and secured civilians until they cleared the bunker. 

In a matter of minutes, they had secured their location and rescued all civilians, with no casualties. 

"Command, this is PAZNER 2-1, we have the civilians and are beginning our extraction. " Tom radioed to HQ with a grin on his face. Another mission well done with almost no issues.

"Copy that Hanson, begin your extraction. The heli...... on its's w....." the static was growing over the radio. the smile on his face faded fast as he realised that they were about to be ambushed. 

"We are leaving, now!" Tom commanded to his troops.

"J. call the chopper, tell them we may be coming in with some company and they need to be ready and hot in 5 mikes." Tom raidioed with slight concern in his voice.

"Copy that sir, race you there, out."

The team gathered the civilians and began escorting them to the extraction point. Tom lead the way with Alex bringing up the rear. 

once they were about half way the their escape, Alex called to Tom. "Sir, we have several hostile following us in the shadows."

"Copy that. Ella, take point with everyone else. Alex you and I are gonna buy them some time."

"Yes sir." they both replied.

Very cautiously and somewhat casually, Tom and Ella swapped spots as Alex and him began lagging behind. Tom began looking for a good spot to lay down cover fire for the team when he spotted a downed tree in the middle of a clearing.

"Alex, downed tree, on the right. See it?" Tom asked.

"Copy. On you sir." Alex replied

Tom nodded as they passed it and he and Alex dove behind it as they began shooting into the darkness behind them. the rest of their group began running to where they needed to be.
