The team began their extraction, swiftly and silently moving through the brush and humid air of the jungle.

Tom suddenly stopped and raised his hand in a fist, singling his team to stop where they were. He looked around  for a moment before starring straight forward. "Get down." He whispered.

His team did as they were instructed as a shot whirred past Alex. Tom knelt down as several more shots sped toward them.

"Ambush! Return fire and find cover!" Tom commanded.

The members of his team dove in separate directions and crawled behind whatever cover they could find. Tom stayed kneeling where he was as he tried to figure out where the shots were coming from.

He peered over the mossy log in front of his face and saw a line of muzzle flashes from bolt action rifles. There was also a machine gun pointed at them, but not firing yet.

"Bolt actions, on the ridge over there! I also see an MG. Keep out of it's line of sight!" Tom informed his team.

"Johnson, Take out that MG so we can rush them!" Yelled Tom.

Johnson nodded and looked through the scope of his rifle. He fixed his sights on the torso of the man waiting to open fire. His hands gripped the rifle tightly as his finger wrapped itself into the trigger guard. He flicked the safety off and pressed his finger against the trigger.

With a gentle squeeze, he sent a 7.62 millimeter piece of lead hurtling through the air and into the chest of the machine gunner.

The barrage of rifle fire stopped suddenly as the team ran from their cover and toward the enemy position.

Running in guns blazing, Tom had both pistols in either hand and fired them into the bodies of his foes.

After the brief firefight, the team regrouped to keep moving. Tom noticed a wounded soldier trying to crawl away. He approached the soldier and drew his pistol. Anger swelled inside of Tom as he unloaded his pistol's magazine into the back of the soldier.

"Let's keep moving." Tom instructed as he holstered his gun.

The team silently acknowledged him and continued moving to their extraction point.
